Word on the street is that the only thing worse than their 3pt defense is their free throw shooting. JP and GJ are gonna burn the place down fighting to make up Sunday's slack, Goodwin is a lock for a double-double, Collins will have 12+ assists, and I expect Hargrove to have a break-out game similar to Maryville last year with the added minutes he's getting tonight. Vegas has the team total at 78 so that over will hit with 10 minutes left in the game. On the contrary, I think that's exactly why we're gonna stomp them. Glass half full/empty. We've got a lot of senior leadership and maturity that should be able to take the loss as motivation and end this one before it starts. 3pt shooting is the #1 reason we lost Sunday, and OFTM was the #2. It takes more than 2 hands to count the number of over commitments and late 3 point close outs. That isn't even getting to fouling 3 point shooters. KenPom says that our D is slightly better this season than the past 2, but my eye test tells me that our D hasn't been up to the usual Ford standards this season. That being said, it seems like our D usually gets better as the season goes along. The 2019 NCAA team and last year we were peaking on D late in the season after some struggles earlier on (ex: getting torched by St Joes in 2019, 2020 struggles in early/mid Feb). I think this is largely due to our Steal % so far this year being ranked 24th per kenpom, probably inflated due to the weaker teams we’ve played.
