crymdg2
Goodwin and French get the bulk of the accolades, and deservedly so, but I don't think we give enough credit to Perkins. Not to get too ahead of myself after 1 game against a not so great team, but look at these numbers. Those are Klay Thompson numbers in terms of efficiency! Buckle up, this is going to be fun! slu72
He reminds me so much of Harry Rogers it’s kind of eerie. For any of us lucky enough to have seen Harry play, watching Javonte is just as enjoyable. He is silky smooth and has such a soft shot dare I say it is a thing of beauty watching him work. HoosierPal
Perkins has stealthly moved up to 12th in Billiken Career Scoring Average, 14th on Career FT% and 17th on Career 3FG%.
Compton
Perkins seems pretty highly rated. The kid is elite.
dlarry
When he puts up a shot and misses I’m shocked. There haven’t been a lot of Bills that fall into that category.

An elite scorer is always one of the two most valuable assets on your team. He can blow away bad teams singlehandedly and can win games down the stretch singlehandedly. And like the tweet above pointed out, an efficient elite scorer is a joy to behold. He doesn't need to dominate the ball to dominate the game. Which leaves room for his teammates to excel in their respective specialties. It's easy to take a player like Perkins for granted because he makes offense looks so effortless. But there's a reason that the closest comparison to him in Billiken history is Harry Rogers, almost 50 years ago. They are incredibly rare. I guess Javon Bess knew what he was talking about before the season began last year. Wasn't JB's comment something along the line of JP being the best player on the team. billikenbill likes this
NH
Javonte is a special scorer. He’s too big to be guarded by most wings in our league and too quick to be guarded by most forwards. He is efficient at all three levels. He also showed signs of improved playmaking with a nifty pass to Bell Zink likes this
Zink
We have two players that I assume will make every shot they take. A pretty fun change of pace from the Crews years. Perkins and Jimerson can score on any given possession, while Goodwin and French turn broken plays and missed shots into high percentage chances. And it’s not like the other guys are scrubs, everyone else can get 10pts without it being surprising. We have balanced, deep scoring for the first time since Cody and Kwamain graduated (and neither of them were paragons of efficiency). Reinert310
I don’t know who Rashad Phillips is, but he’s verified on Twitter (blue check mark) and he calls himself a “NCAA/NBA prospect specialist” in his profile had some nice things to say about Perk in the replies of this tweet. Just sayin...

Coach314
Missed the 1st game but I am glad to see Javonte getting the praise he deserves. Great kid. I'm proud of him. brianstl
For the last third of his career as a Billiken, Perkins has played at a legit All-American level. Over the last nine games he has averaged over 22 ppg, he is shooting 61% overall and 58% from 3. willie, Zink and slufanskip like this

BJK
He is such an amazing talent. We haven’t seen this type of player on a SLU roster in decades. He’s first round talent. Bet that.
TheA_Bomb
Against a team with good size and athletes he got to his spots. He moves well without the ball and receives the pass so well. He also has good body control to make adjustments in the air and get the shot off. I was so happy to see him curl and catch and shoot right at the elbow today. That's a beautiful play so hard to defend. Plus money from the FT line. brianstl likes this
