Couldn’t you contact trace backwards from infected Billikens and determine, within some reason, where it all started and came from?

yes one could I have no data. Except for what is public.  SLU had a positive test announced the day they were to play Duquesne I believe 12/30.  Ford Say he tested positive in January.  He was pretty sick but not hospitalized.  He says his family never got it.  so someone besides Ford tested positive 12/30.  The players have said they are not naming the players who had it.  Do I think it was a wise idea to have a get together at a bar 12/23...NO.  Is it criminal? no. Base on the information I have heard, it does not sound like this was the event that led to SLU's Pause...time to move along to TV and his positive Covid test....

Young adults in America enjoying life, send in the KGB. Better yet, send them to the gulag. Then they can’t infect anyone!

The thing you miss here is that nobody is really angry with Brooks.  I think everyone understands a healthy 21 year old celebrating his birthday even if it wouldn’t be the best idea. That is what I thought was amazing about Ford’s comments on it. He turned it into an attack on his son which totally shifted the discussion away from the fact that people were questioning Travis and his actions, not Brooks.  It was an incredible spin job. Ford did a masterful job of totally distorting what were the actual issues in question.  Politicians could learn a lot from it.

Oh I get the bad optics and everything but it can be viewed as an attack on his son when the story is held for two months and implicates his son for ruining SLU’s season. His son is a private citizen and not on the basketball team. Like I said I get the optics are bad but he’s not a part of the program. Why should he have to be held to the same standards as the NCAA protocols? Like I said bad optics but it is what it is. What I have a bigger problem with is politicians, since you mentioned them, telling citizens to stay home and restrict travel while his family (cough cough JB Pritzker of Illinois) is sent to vacation at their Florida residence.

Literally no one implicated his son for ruining SLU’s season. That’s what you wanted to read so you could go on a political rant.

Nobody claimed his son ruined SLU’s season.  Even the original tweet was questioning Travis and not Brooks.

Plus, if Brooks is a private citizen and not part of the program don’t give him an in game video tribute wishing him a happy birthday liked they did in the UMKC game.

Not a political rant but a fact if you paid attention. Also pretty clear he implicated Ford’s family. If it was Ford himself caught partying that’s one thing but it wasn’t. It was his 21 year old son. Leave the kids out of it.

I think we all know what he is implying.

Well a sane person would know he is implying Travis is to blame, but the Travis’s comments worked.  No one in the press will ask if Travis was at the party.

Of course. I’m not saying this dude is blaming his kid 100%. More than one person can be at blame. But implying this kid is at fault for celebrating his 21st and it spread to SLUs players somehow without concrete proof is bad journalism. It’s a hit piece.

We’re breaking down the tweets of a wannabe internet sleuth doorman. He’s been given his 5 min of attention on social media. Time to move on

I don’t get denigrating Gardner for tweeting about a story that has been making the rounds for months now and his been blamed for shutting down the state’s two biggest college basketball programs.  There seems like there is a story there that actually might need some answers deeper than we got today.  It could be nothing, but I would like some answers better than I didn’t get COVID from Brooks.

I agree with everything you said. What I have had a problem with and why I personally didn't feel compelled to say anything(outside of personal conversations) was that there was no concrete evidence. I didn't see those pictures until today, but even if I had those pictures I wouldn't have posted them because I still didn't have proof that Travis Ford got covid directly from that specific incident.

How would you if no one asks substantive questions about it? Even aside from proof, the optics can be very bad without hard evidence it caused the COVID pause.

JB has exceeded most expectations since he’s taken over as Gov. This is the second or third time you’ve whined about him on the board this week. Shut up

I guess we can agree to disagree. And when did I whine about him two other times this week? Please remind me

Good point - this reminds me of the issue in MN when the Cardinals last summer had to pause and people were claiming that some of the players went to a casino there and that is how they got it.  No cameras in the casino ever had any pictures of any Cardinals players having been there.  Now I guess the cameras could have missed them but honestly anybody who knows about casino security knows that would be very tough to pull off.

05 that's the problem I have with how this was handled. Chapley should have asked Ford about it before he retweeted the original tweet. Obviously he didnt or he would have mentioned it. I have an daughter that is a journalist so I am sensitive to criticizing young journalists but he made a mistake here. Hopefully he learns from it.

The casino story was a smokescreen.

There were reports from individuals that Carlos Martinez was at the Wheelhouse right before they got shut down the first time for not following protocols - and this was before anyone knew who tested positive or how much it would derail the season. Wainwright was out there in PR mode dismissing the casino story - but nobody in the media ever really dug into Carlos Martinez (and others?) clubbing activities leading to the team getting infected.

Don't blame Gardner for having the audacity to call attention to it after we've never been given an adequate explanation for how the team got so infected after being so careful. At least Gardner had the sense to wait until after Selection Sunday so it would not be perhaps used against them by the committee.

It’s not like Ford said anything that proved the picture to be illegitimate or something like that? This is a very weird perception of Journalism.

The tweet was out there, Carter did not confirm it happened, just that the rumor had been out there and why he chose not to report on it.
