Darrion Baker - PF, 6-8, 195 - Country Club Hills, IL (Hillcrest) - AAU: Team Rose (Adidas 3SSB) - Twitter: @darrionb0
Offers: Saint Louis, Drake, Missouri State, Illinois-Chicago, Indiana State, Valparaiso, Illinois State, Toledo, Akron, Northern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville, Southern Indiana, Wofford, Towson, Siena, Appalachian State, Cal State-Fullerton, Cal Poly, Radford.

Interest: Massachusetts, DePaul, San Jose State, SMU, East Carolina, Murray State, SIU-Carbondale, Charlotte, Miami-Ohio, Central Michigan, Wright State, Ball State, IUPUI, Purdue-Fort Wayne, Tennessee-Martin, Chattanooga, Elon, UMBC, Montana State, Jacksonville State, Liberty, Northwestern State.

Latest News: Baker received an offer from SLU. (8/1/22)

Scouting Report: Baker is a skilled, strong, athletic forward who plays hard all the time. He has solid handles and makes plays out of the mid-post. He's a good cutter with a feel for the game offensively. He has nice shooting touch. He's fast in the open court and agile for a guy his size. He hunts for rebounds, can guard multiple positions, and makes an effort to stay in front of shorter players when defending.

-through my blue colored lenses we are the highest program to have offered, I wonder what the others are missing? or is it us? I like the Scouting Report.

Almost all of these offers are from mid-June through the end of July. No one's missing anything, he's just in the process of blowing up. On the MMP Twitter account, I shared video of him in mid-April and video of him from the late July 3SSB events and he looks bigger. Playing better + growing + getting in front of a ton more coaches = high-teens offers in under 8 weeks.

Now it's just a matter of seeing whether the power conferences really start to get involved.

I've noticed that high majors are dragging their feet on late bloomers in the transfer portal era.  They'll show interest in the fall but won't formally offer until their transfer targets turn them down in the spring.

Education - hints the Harvard and Princeton

basketball - kstate and Murray state- sorta

Ok, got it. Kid’s looking at a good mix; elite education, P5 program, two top Mid programs but only 1 of them in the academic top 100. We’re like the hybrid program. And we have a big need at his position.

Previously committed to South Carolina with Will Bailey as his lead recruiter. Originally class of 22 but re-classed to 23. Maybe some smoke to this?

6’ 4” 4 Star point guard sounds great to me I hope SLU is a serious contender for this player.

Let's help out Pistol for once so he doesn't have to work so hard:

https://www.on3.com/college/south-carolina-gamecocks/news/2022-pg-bryce-lindsay-commits-to-south-carolina/

Here is what On3’s National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw had to say about Bryce Lindsay:

“Bryce Lindsay is a shooter. He has deep range and confidence he will make the next shot. At 6-1/6-2 he is more shooting guard than point guard but he is confident on the ball in a secondary role. Average length and athleticism but he gives good effort on defense. The real takeaway here is his ability to stretch the floor, South Carolina fans may remember Jamel Bradley, Lindsay is of a similar archetype.”

Might be worth pointing out in light of Ford’s comments Sunday, Lindsay could still enroll at SLU this fall.

Classes start Aug 24th, so very little time left. Also, he’s about to miss a free trip to Europe…

If SLU were to land a 4 star combo guard with no prior connections to the area / University for this coming season with the depth we already have and just a few weeks before classes start that would arguably be the most impressive recruiting get in SLU history, right?

The fact that we MBMs even think it is a real possibility shows how far recruiting has come under Ford.

No doubt.  That being said, reclassifying to 2023 positions him to start on day one after the seniors move on.  Again, this is the caliber of player we are able to attract once tons of minutes are available.

That's 3 "top" lists in 3 days for SLU.

Although Dalen Davis just got an offer from Tulane after announcing his, so I'm not sure what that means.

Tulane offered Davis after his top 5 was announced and now he's going to visit there along with K-State and Harvard (both on his top 5 list) in September. No word yet about visits to SLU, Princeton, or Murray State - the rest of his top 5.
