Recruiting - 2023

Richmond offered Finley Bizjack yesterday.  Bizjack's last 3 offers have been from mid-majors.  This is even with him having a strong start to the AAU season.  Usually means that the high majors don't believe he's quick enough to do what he does at their level.  He could slide right in as a combo guard here, assuming we sign a graduate transfer for that role this year.

I want Bizjack and Potter.

I am hoping since SLU was on Bizjack early that SLU has an advantage.

It would really stink if Bizjack went to another A10 team.

Fred Payne put SLU in his top 5 with BC, Houston, Tulane, and UNT.

I like Payne a lot. Going to be interesting to see if we can keep him from broadening this top 5 if he has a good EYBL season.

Chris was playing with me at MPJ Elite. However, he hasn't been a resident of Missouri for a year so he had to go back to Texas. He's an elite shooter at 6'11, unique player. I think he ends up MM to MM+.

Darrion Sutton is with We All Can Go on the Adidas Circuit. He's got a long ways to go but is 6'9 with a good handle. If he gets the right development, he's got a chance to be LM to MM.

Sutton has now reclassified to the 2024 class.

Could this be Payne narrowing the list more or announcing a decision?

Big fan of this quote from him. Why wouldn't he want to come learn from the best PG in the country?

Prediction: Payne has a big summer on the EYBL. SEC schools start hovering, his commitment softens and eventually breaks. He reopens, signs with a school not previously in his top 5 in November.

Maybe I'm too cynical now. A talented Louisiana kid committing to BC in May just seems like a stretch to last 6 months in this environment.

Payne's coach at Legacy, P.J. Couisnard, played for BC coach Earl Grant at Wichita St. when Grant was on Marshall's staff.   Couisnard  was pretty good player for both Turgeon and Marshall at WSU.  Was a starter as a sophomore on Turgeon's Sweet 16 team.  They lost to in the tournament to Final Four bound George Mason.

Good grief, that defense. For real, though, if Kizer can shoot like that he might be worth a hard look. I like the Mid-Pro (AAU) trio of Kizer, recent PG offer Brock Harding, and wing Ty Pence. They're a lot of fun. Pence is a kid I wish we'd recruited a bit harder earlier on.

Priorities in 2023 are point guard and power forward.  Anything after that is best player available.  If Kizer is one of those players, so be it.  He has some Valley offers and his most recent offer is from Toledo.

I think schools are waiting to see if this recent outburst of shooting is legit.  He's a skinny 6'6 high flyer at this point.
