I'm sure Coach Ford sold Weaver on how that same tenacity is a staple of Team Blue's on-court personality.

Thatch, Weaver, Goodwin, French — and others to be determined....  The nightmare continues for A-10 opponents' scoring averages!

Reports about his entering the transfer portal going back to April says he is a grad transfer.  And his twitter posts show proof of his having graduated.

Awesome, looks like a great player from what I could find after a quick search. 3 details stood out, 1 he has an offer from Arizona right now to go play, 2 he shot 36% from the 3 point line, and 3 he played some nice competition this year and put up some good numbers against them such as Xavier, with 15 points, 1stl, 4 reb, 1ast and shot 45% from 3, he also played against Tennessee and Kansas state. I’m excited to see what this kid can do.

To break it down, in 7 games vs. NCAA and NIT teams, he scored 72 points on 21/63 three point shooting. Hitting three 3's a game against that type of competition. Solid ball handler, spot up shooter, good defender. He'll help bolster our backcourt.

Without delving too far into it, it looks like Weaver fills the role of Isabell from last year’s team.

Decent shooter, takes care of the ball, good for a few assists and rebounds a game.

I don't see him as an Isabell type scorer who could create his own shot. More like a Wiley who had his moments from the outside. Hopefully he's more consistent and durable than Wiley. Sounds like a good defender, though, which pleases Ford. Isabell turned out to be a game changer for us, Weaver a piece of the puzzle.

Solid assist-to-turnover ratio, solid 3 point percentage.

We had issues at the point most of last season, and surely Weaver and Yuri will help matters...

Agree with this.  Isabell basically put us on his back in the A10 tourney.  Weaver isn’t the guy whose gonna break down his man then finish at the rim

He shoots more than Wiley really ever did.  But Im not sure he can score on all three levels like isabell, or has the ball control. If he can give us his carer averages  34% from 3 and 75% from FT(about average), im a happy camper.  That would be 1st in 3s and tied for 2nd in FT with last years team, so all around upgrade.

Weaver and Isabell are both smaller guards, but their games are very different.  Just to give you an idea - Weaver has taken 89 2pt FGs total during his career (1621 minutes) and Isabelll took 233 2pt FGs last year alone (1139 minutes).  Isabell (48% career) hit his 2pt FGs at a much higher % as well compared to Weaver (38% career).  Weaver took 237 3pt FGs last year alone compared to 166 from Isabell and Weaver played close to 250 fewer minutes last year.  Weaver also has the % advantage 36% career to 32% career.

Weaver (5-10, 170) is also a little bit smaller than Isabell (6-1, 180) which probably helps Isabell's scoring ability at the rim.

Basically, like others said, Isabell was much more of an overall "scorer" who could create his own shot while Weaver seems to be just an outside gunner.  Given his career shooting %s, you don't really want Weaver taking anything except 3 pointers.

I like this pickup because *hopefully* he fits better with Goodwin / French in that his shooting ability will help space the floor better.

Because he was playing for Eastern Kentucky. Wiley averaged 5 ppg at Maryland. Do you really think he would have any problem averaging 10 ppg in the OVC?

I'm glad that we have a spot up shooter and a secondary ballhandler but that's just what he is.

Weaver has come a long way. He struggled academically in high school, shot 32% from 3 in high school and didn't get offered from Eastern Kentucky until after his senior year.  Now he's a college graduate who will be a spot up shooter in the A10. Helluva accomplishment.
