Charleston will flood unless this beast stays about 50 miles offshore. The surge, rain, and tides, and we are in a period known as the King Tides, all combine to overwhelm us. My condo sits on a small tidal basin but has never flooded, even during the 1000 year rain of a few years ago, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying my prayers.

The governor has mandated a total evac of the coastal areas in SC. So, I'll heed it. Aquinas if you're under a similar order, I'd go as well.   Why risk it?

Glad the evacuation order was given and that you will follow it. The roads will be crowded, very crowded, and it will be a good idea to top your tank reasonably frequently to keep it close to full. If the hurricane starts getting close, say mid Georgia, head for the next available shelter. It does not matter what happens to  the car it is you and your wife that matters.

not knowing where to throw this thought, at the billiken theme night at the cardinal game last night, i was surprised how thin goodwin is.   has to be in the best shape of his life.   french also has slimmed down, tightened his body.   both look fantastic.

From what I gathered French spent a decent amount of the offseason working on Quickness and explosiveness

Which is weird, because French is listed at 245 lbs. on this year's roster. He was 235 lbs. on last year's roster.

Here is an interesting breakdown of Dayton's roster.  This could be their make or break season, as many expect this will be Toppin's last rodeo.  Grant played 8 double digit minutes last season, and it appears he has the roster to expand his rotation this season.

I hope he’s still the amazing rebounder we’ve come to know even as a smaller dude

I agree, interesting, but we all realize preseason lists such like this are just a shot over the bow.  It is difficult, to impossible, to rank high school production against last year's A10 production.  But he gives it a good effort.  I did smile seeing Jimmy Bell at #57.  I wonder what that is based on....Coach Ford's comments are all that has been publicized.

His top 25 likely have most, if not all, of the Pre-Season All A10 players.  He rates Trey Mitchell as the top freshman.  Hard to argue with that in preseason.

SLU representation:
13. French
19. Goodwin
41. Hargrove
49. Collins (says he's going to provide our three-point shooting)
51. Perkins
53. Thatch
57. Bell
68. Jimerson

This is a pretty weird list overall but it looks like it took forever to put together, and it's always interesting to see how others see us.

-last night I was talking with a fellow season ticket holder about the upcoming season and one area we agreed would improve is ft shooting, but looking a bit deeper while I hope for great improvement I'm not sure what we will have, last season as a team we shot 59.8% (352 out of 353 per KenPom), but those players not returning shot 67.6% (and had 60% of the attempts) and those players returning shot 47.6%

-one returning player shot better than 62% last season, KCH was 6 of 8

-last season JGood 72 of 141, HF 37 of 106, FTJr 33 of 54,

-I expect Perkins to get to the line frequently and have a good %, perhaps Jimerson will get there too and I expect a great % from him, we'll see from the other new players and hope for huge improvement from JGood and HF (and time will tell how realistic that hope is) but I hope something happens where we can increase our success from the line

I read a lot on here but don't post much. Apologies if this has already been mentioned.

Boston College was thought to be a fringe NIT team. Their best player, Wynston Tabbs, just had knee surgery and will be out the whole season. Like the Bills, they have a lot of talented newcomers. Billikens will have a good chance to win this game, their first road game of the season.

Go Bills!

Maybe this is true, but often times guys who come in as more true 3 point shooter types struggle to get to the line early in their career. I have no idea whether this applies to Jimmmerson as well since I have never seen him play, but something to think about.

I was going to say for us to improve as a free throw shooting team it might have to come down to guys like French and Goodwin improving and you laid it out pretty good. Looking at our free throw attempts last season, it went Bess (176 and 79%), Goodwin (141 and 51%), Isabell (138 and 71%), Foreman (107 and 54%), French (106 and 34.9%), and Thatch (54 and 61%), so we need improvement from the returners and the new guys to step in and hit at a solid clip which doesn't seem unreasonable (Foreman's position could be one that sees some nice improvement and I didn't realize just how many he shot).

The high school clips of Jimerson show his ability to score in a variety of ways, including attacking the basket.  Of course, D-1 is a whole new animal, but based on these clips and Coach’s comments, I think we can expect Jimerson to be more than just a spot up 3 point specialist.

The highlight video of Bell in the article was good to see.  Showed a little more athleticism then I had seen in other clips (and also sank a few 3’s).

A couple of comments on the A-10 top 100 list:

Jimerson has a video included from two seasons ago while he was in high school.  A interesting watch.  It shows, not only his ability to shoot the 3, but also his ability to shoot off the dribble.  I assume he has not regressed from what is shown in that highlight video.  While I have not seen him play, I think he will be a key contributor this year.  He doesn't seem to get much love from any outside sources except from this Board.  Athlon doesn't even mention him while it does talk about JB and MD (B Ray).  Even the A-10 list seems to indicate that we will get our improved shooting from YC more so than GJ.

Also included in the list is a video of JB, although it doesn't show any shots from outside 1".  Everything was a dunk but he does seem to move very well for a 280 lbs big.

While we don't have a top 12 player, we do have 8 in the top 68, which indicates depth we have not had in years,  Shoot, we didn't even have 8 players be able to take the court at times last year, let alone 8 players of this quality and the list does not even include a player that will probably be a real contributor (Weaver).   He is likely not on the list because we just showed him on the roster a week or two ago.

While TF's public comments might be a part of the basis supporting some of the rankings, I do think it supports his evaluation that we have a deep, talented roster that can go 9-11 deep.

Agree re: Jimerson.

Re: Bell, not that i think he'll be an outside threat, the video does indeed show him hitting a few jumpers including a couple of 3 point buckets.

I thought that was other players on his team.  If that was JB then I was wrong and that would be very encouraging
