Most of that would cut into DJ and Hasahn's minutes.

I think what's more important than the exact minutes is the sentiment behind his statement: Coach Ford sees a future for Jacobs and Hankton in his rotation. That's why he's focusing on grad transfer bigs. He likes what he has on the perimeter. There hasn't even been a mention of bringing in help beyond the frontcourt. billiken_roy likes this

When Coach Ford experienced similar losses at OK State, the team did not make the postseason. Getting all these new players, many of whom are first time college players, to meld with the returnees is a really tough job. On top of that, the A10 is getting better in a hurry. We could be a better team next year and still finish sixth. I'm going to enjoy the process. If Coach Ford can retain this young core, sustained success is just a matter of time. Agree and on paper losing that much scoring leads to a mediocre season...throw in a couple GT bigs with French, Goodwin and Thatch & it could change things. At best this is usually not until conference play starts. 15 per for Hankton seems like lock for me. Even competing with Hargrove, Perkins, and any new recruits - there are 120 minutes available at the 3 and 4. Barring a GT taking his spot, Jacobs is likely the team’s 3rd guard until January at the earliest.

My dream is that Ford recruits over Goodwin and French, and they have to fight for their positions next season. [Would we be good or what?] Yea bench the guys who recruited for Ford and took a chance on him.... are you delusional!! They would all grad transfer if Ford takes them from 35 min freshmen and sophomore years to less than 25 min a game and not starting. I understand what you mean but from a recruiting perspective, Ford would lose all local recruits when Goodwin’s camp teams up with gordons. Luckily that won’t happen because Ford is smart enough. Always get the best players. Thats what great programs do, they dont worry too much about sentimental feelings towards players Also french and goodwin are on pace to be two of the top 3 players in our history, if they have trouble competing for spots/minutes to frosh and sophomores, either they weren't as good as we thought, or man those new players are amazing. Could not disagree more. It sounds like you would prefer a mediocre team of local talent over a better team of regional/national talent. Give me the W's. If the original recruits can't out perform the newer recruits, if they don't want it bad enough to demonstrate they belong on the floor, I'd tell them to deal with it however they need to. I do agree that Ford is smart enough to put his best team on the floor, regardless of where they went to High School.

Doing stuff like that gives you a bad rep. Why do you think Marquette just lost 2 of the top 100 ncaa players? Wojo is gone after Howard leaves and is having difficulty recruiting after being a top 10 team this year. This attitude is literally what is collapsing Marquette right now
