Our guards don't even attempt to create open shots for Bess.  He's just the outlet for them when their drives to the basket fail.  Hence why he gets the ball 25 feet from the basket with 10 seconds left on the clock.  Those long-range threes have been Bess's way of turning lemons into lemonade.

In the 2nd half there's a tendency for Goodwin in particular to give up the ball earlier in the shot clock giving Bess a better opportunity to score.  An actual point guard would do this naturally.

Because Bess has to work so hard to get shots in the 2nd half, Thatch's offense suffers.  He's a no-frills player that lets the game come to him.  The problem is when you're playing with guards who don't understand how halfcourt offense works, the game rarely comes to him.  When Fred plays with better halfcourt players, his offense will also be more consistent.
