Wow. I totally gave up on that game. It was 20 up PC in the first half. I was gone. The Big East is not going to get their 6 bids this year like last year. I believe we are 4-5 v the Big East, and that includes a hose job on VCU at St Johns.

Taj79
A very big day today (12/08) for the A10 as a whole ..... Rhodey (NL) is at Holy Cross (6 and 3). Dayton (+14.5) is at #8 Auburn. The Joey's travel up the Main Line to face Nova (-11.5). Fordham (+8.5) actually plays 'someone' although its only hosting Big Ten doormat Rutgers at Rose Hill. The Bonnies continue the Western NY run with hosting #17 Buffalo (-7). Foggy Bottom has Valpo (-4) coming to town. And La Salle host Penn (-5.5) at Gola. Can they get off the schneid? Tomorrow, besides us and Oregon State (6 and 1), Duquesne host a decent Longwood team (7 and 3) and VCU goes cross state to Charlottesville and #4 UVa. That's five games against so-called P5 or P6 foes.
HoosierPal
Fordham! Big win over Rutgers. A10 gathering some nice P5/6 wins.

Taj79
Helloooooo ... Rutgers is Big Ten. Dayton lost at Auburn 82 to 72. The ten point game was not really that close. Auburn went up by 20 at half and while Dayton did eventually cut it to six, Auburn took the air out of the ball the last three minutes and it didn't matter. Dayton remains who I thought they were ---- they will beat some folks in Dayton and can't be taken lightly. But they play seven guys and are limited across the roster. #17 Buffalo handled the Bonnies 80 to 62 despite Courtney Stockard in the Bonnies lineup. I erroneously reported LaDarien Griffin was back; he's not and isn't expected back until maybe the turn of the calendar year. Also, western NY career HS scoring leader and Bonnie freshman Dom Welch broke his foot and is redshirting this year. Nova shut down the Joeys 70 to 58. Another contest not as close as the score would indicate. The Joeys were down by 22 beginning essentially the fourth quarter and went on a 16 to 0 run to make it close. They played without Charlie Brown who sprained his ankle late in the win over Princeton earlier this week. Rhodey went to Holy Cross and got a nice win 79 to 63. Dowtin, Russell and Langevine continue to be that three-headed monster as both Langevine and Russell scored 19 while Dowtin had 18. Russell still has shooting woes, going 1-of-6 from three. Valpo won in DC over Geedubya, 82 to 79 and Penn kept La Salle on the schneid 83 to 65 at the Masoleum. Pookie Powell still out injured. And as noted, Fordham did beat Rutgers 78 to 70. Freshman Nick Honor scored a career high 30. Also freshman guard Jalen Cobb added 17 so Fordham has the makings of a decent backcourt for the next four years. But they'll transfer. They all do at Fordham it seems. Paschall. Sengfelder. Fontan. Sever. Chartouny. On and on .....

Taj79
This weekend marks the midpoint of the month, only 15 days or so left until the conference season starts and the OOC stuff is in the rear view mirror. This past week, nothing much happened around the A10. Most will say it's finals week. Fordham came back to earth some losing at Rose Hill to New Jersey Institute of Technology. NJIT upped its record to 10 and 2 with the 53 to 50 win. But it's still NJIT. Umass had a chance for the nicest win of the week but fell by two at Temple 65 to 63 despite leading 40 to 27 at one point. Big man Rashaan Holloway suffered an ankle injury early and did not return to the game. He did make it back to the bench with an ice wrap leading some to believe it was not as serious as it could have been. Pipkins scored only 12 but Rutgers transfer Laurent and Memphis transfer Clergeot each scored 12 so maybe the Umass transfers are coming around. On Thursday, ho-hum, Duquesne beat a bad Maryland-Eastern Shore team at the Palumbo Ductwork Center, 72 to 57. UMES is 1 and 9. But we did have a Mike Lewis II sighting --- started, nine points on 3 of 7 shooting with 3 of 6 being treys. Two assists, no fouls. Hmmm ... only 22 minutes. I wonder just what is going on there? Tonight's game is a bad one too ... Howard travels across downtown DC to play Geedubya. GW is favored by 6 but Howard is 6 and 3 compared to the Colonials 2 and 8 and Howard won at Umass. Saturday gets a little interesting as College of Charleston takes it 8 and 2 record to VCU. Game time is 4 EST on NBCSN. Richmond hosts a bad Oral Roberts. And Davidson goes to Temple for a 4:30 EST tip at the Liacouras Center on ESPN3. Two out of three ain't bad. Sunday is the biggest slate of this weekend with four games, beside us at Houston, you've got Maine at Duquesne (does Duquesne play ANYBODY?), Rhode Island is at a very tough West Virginia (although the game is in the Tip-Off Classic at the Mohican Sun Casino in Connecticut), Howard continues its A10 tour at Fordham, and finally, Dayton tussles with Tulsa in the second game at the Mohican Sun. The sweater-vest crowd is throwing the big bucks down on the craps tables on the reservation. almaman and Matty Light like this
slu72
The Native Americans might have flashbacks to their lands being overtaken by the pale faces when they see the number of UD fans flooding their casino. Ah, those Flyer fans travel well. Not sure VCU will have that much trouble with CoC. I've seen them on TV a couple of times and don't see how a team that beat Texas can lose to the Coogs. I will say, though, the CoC coach is not long for the Holy City if he keeps winning. The guy can recruit. He's got some good looking FR. If Travis were to leave us, I'd hope May gives this guy an interview.
slu72
Should add the Temple v Davidson game is the most interesting game in this weekend's activities. It might give us some clue as to just how much of a threat Davidson is to us this year. And one thing stood out to me in the UH by 7 thread was that Sampson said we'd be the best team UH has faced this year. Could be smoke blowing coach speak since they beat a ranked Oregon team. Matty Light
Is there a reason St. Joe's is taking 2 weeks off between games? Did someone cancel on them? Seems like terrible scheduling to me. Sure, preparation for Finals is important but two weeks off seems excessive.

Taj79
Right now, the official reason is "finals." But that has not been the case in years past. Yes, they did take about 8 days off same time last year, but the year previous to that, very few. Maybe an anomaly but a fortunate one ----- one of the biggest problems Martelli has faced the last few years (sans the DeAndre Bembry junior championship year) are injuries. Shavar Newkirk. Lamar Kimble. Charlie Brown. All were lost to season-ending injuries and while he has lost no one yet this year, Brown remains hobbled with an ankle injury and sixth man Pierfrancesco Oliva is also out under concussion protocol. So at least he gets to get healthy. It wasn't planned this way (injuries) but it might be a blessing.
Taj79
Geedubya gets win #3 downing Howard 70 to 64. Illini transfer DJ Williams leads the way with 18. Terry Nolan hits game-clinching three with shot colck expiring to provide breathing room with 8 seconds to go.
