The Wiz Posted November 22, 2018 Share Posted November 22, 2018 We got this game....well almost....almost because because we are a B- team vs a D- (C Ark) and they are just close enough that if we have a bad game and let them stay close they could sneak past us....but things being normal that shouldn't happen. Stop Kayouloud....he is pretty much their team....Hold him to 12 pts and under 50% ...Slash 45/33/70...score 80....TO 11 .....out rebound by 6 Bottom line....C Ark has a weaker D than us that we should be able to take advantage of...plus if we bother them on offense they will have issues there too...they are use to playing teams that let them shoot........ C Ark lost to Troy by 5...We beat Troy by 4...therefore based on this line of reasoning we should win by no less than 9....Based on all the numbers and an improving team....we should win by 16 ....if we have a good game we could win by 20+....I am at the half way point in data collection....we should have a pretty good idea what kind of a team we have in 2 weeks. Well the good news is because we were within the margin of error...this game won't hurt us....probably won't help us either . So let's see what happened....Stop Kayouloud...we did...only 8 pts and 38%...good job Slash was pretty close to projected 45/33/70.......Actual 42.3/ 43.8/68.8 translates to ....F+/ A+/F+...missed the projected slash by two 2 pointers and 1 FT...not too bad except there was 1 disturbing note....If we break it down further...we shot 41.7% from 2P area...less than our 3P shooting % and an F- for 2P...not good...we needed 3 more 2s to get 2 a C grade. Beat the min 9 pt spread.. Out rebound by 6...we out rebounded by 23 nearly doubling their total of 24....excellent. TOs...another disturbing stat...First TOs were 18...7 more than projected ...and only 2 less than needed for an automatic loss....in addition we had 5 more TOs than C Ark...this accounted for an extra 10 pts...this is especially disappointing in light of the fact that C Ark was a weak team defensively....we missed 80 pts....if you add the missing 10 pts from TOs we not only make 80 but we win by 22...a blowout and a good game. Finally, if you look at the C Ark offense in the table above , they can shoot. As I mentioned above , if you leave them alone, they can score as they showed in this game...when we bothered them they missed. Bottom line...We got careless in a game where we clearly outplayed the opposition....Too many TOs...In other words we played to our competition...in this case down...In the case of SH and Pitt we played up...Let's hope this pattern continues to next Sat as Butler is an A team Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
