AAC officials have been handing out ejections like Oprah handing out free prizes. You get an ejection! And you get an ejection! And hey, you too!

It's fair to say it's been a rough 10-day stretch all around for the zebras in the AAC. Here's how it has gone, with Saturday providing another speed bump in Wichita State's game with Cincinnati.

  • Jan. 9: Houston's Kelvin Sampson gets technical for removing tie; UH loses first game of season
  • Jan. 15: Cincinnati's Mick Cronin ejected
  • Jan. 16: Tulsa's Frank Haith, UConn's Dan Hurley ejected
  • Jan. 19: Wichita State's Gregg Marshall given technical on quick whistle

Davidson came back to win by 9.  Grady, Frampton and Jon Axel carried the load.  Davidson is for real. They have an easy remaining schedule with Rhody twice and Dayton once.  The rest of the games will be W's. I'd pencil in Davidson for one of the top four A10 tourney byes.

Crazy night in the A10.  Davidson beat Rhody, with Grady only getting 5.  Jon Axel, Pritchett and Brajkovic handled Rhody themselves.  Davidson has Dayton at home and a trip to Rhode Island, with the rest of their games against bottom half teams.  They get the first tourney bye, if they don't drop kick it.

St. B did us a favor by beating Duquesne at Pitt.  Richmond has found their form, beating George Mason.  The other top team, VCU handled GW on the road.

These results puts us in 6th place, pretty much one game out of 3rd (uneven number of games have been played).  Eight to go, but a very real chance of a top 4 finish.  Just keep winning.

Last night, Dayton did to Rhodey what we did to Dayton last week.  Rhodey down to two players in Langevine and Dowtin as Fatts Russell takes a lot of heat for his horrendous sophomore slump.  Tyrese Martin launching airballs.  Jermaine Harris still MIA.  Weak, non-contributing bench.

Duquesne was typical Duquesne, fall behind by 14 at half at Fordham and chuck-and-duck in the second half to the tune of 50 to 26.

VCU obliterated the Bonnies in Olean by 30.  Nobody scored more than 12 for the Rams but just about everyone who played scored.  And Rhoads played 14 guys.  Meaning walk-ons.  Poyser is back for the Bonnies but front-runner newcomer of the year Kyle Lofton shot 3-for-15 for Schmidt's team including 0-for-3 from three.  Overall, the Bonnies shot 26% and 5% (1-of-18) from three.

Richmond crushed Deedubya at Robbins.  Golden and Gilyard with 17 each.  La Salle (-7) is at Mason today. Root for La Salle.  They win and we are one game out of fourth in the loss column.
