I still think he's underrated and SIUC is really lucky that Illinois and other higher-level programs didn't pursue him harder. Hargrove's 17 points came on 7-17 shooting (5/14 2FG, 2-3 3FG; 1-2 FT), and he added 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, and 1 steal. ESL plays at Alton tomorrow. Pistol
Ritter beat St. Mary's on the 4th, 58-55. Collins had 23 points (9-19 FG, 9-14 2FG, 0-5 3FG, 5-7 FT), 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He also had 3 turnovers. He did a nice job checking Luther Burden and the other guards at Ritter. St. Mary's hosts Althoff tomorrow.

Pistol
SWIC romped Southeastern Illinois this weekend, 118-65. Perkins had 27 points on an efficient 13-16 shooting (0-2 from 3), with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. He hit his only FT attempt. They don't have stats up from their prior game, 1/3 vs. Link Prep. I'll update this if and when those post. Perkins is averaging 25.1 PPG (8th in NJCAA) with a slashline of .583/.364/.796, along with 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists. SWIC plays at John A. Logan tomorrow night. VeniceMenace likes this

To those who saw him before and after surgery ... you think that shoulder issue was affecting his shooting?

St. Mary's graduated four starters last year. I was at the Cardinal Ritter game Friday. Yuri faced double teams the whole game and still managed to break them down off the dribble. There was a play with about 90 sec left where he finished over two defenders, including a 6'6 player. His turnovers are up this year because he's a 5'10 player being forced to shoulder the offensive load. Honestly, I don't think Yuri shoots it well enough to play 20 min a game right now. But could he come of the bench for 10-12 min and put other guys in a better position to score with his playmaking? Absolutely. Clocktoweraccords2004
What is the Thatch and Collins comparisons from their senior year in terms of college readiness? Thatch is much bigger right?

They're much different players, too. 3star's assessment above is pretty spot-on. Collins is a pure playmaker. He'll have a different role than Thatch. Pistol
St. Mary's lost to Althoff last night, 59-50. Collins had 8 points on 3-8 shooting (0-2 from 3, 2-3 FT), with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 3 turnovers. The Dragons head to Indiana to play Evansville Day School on Saturday afternoon. East St. Louis won at Alton, 58-49. Hargrove had 21 points on 8-13 shooting (2-3 from 3, 3-7 FT), with 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block. HUGE game this Friday vs. Vashon. Game will be at ESL. SLU fans should head over and GOSEETHEKIDSPLAY because we'll have one signed player and a few more offers and interests on the floor. VeniceMenace
The one thing Collins and Thatch have in common is that they’re more stat sheet stuffers vs bucket getters. SLU_Lax likes this

True. jimerson and Perkins appear to fill it up. If Goodwin still struggles to score next year and the new guys have an adjustment period it could be UGLY

To piggyback on your thought, the Yuri Collins of the world make it easier for the Fred Thatches of the world to score. Thatch has more shots hit the back of the rim, then the front of the rim and then pop out than any Billiken recently. I think one problem with the shooting for everyone might be they are rushing their shots. We had more good looks Sunday than we have had in a long time. We missed a bunch of them, but if we continue to get those good looks that should stop help the guys to stop rushing their shots and hopefully lead to a better shooting percentage. Gibson Jimerson - a 6'6" guard and sharpshooter - 4 years of eligibility Terrance Hargrove - a local 6'7" a versatile, athletic guard who can play the perimeter - 4 years of eligibility And we have 1 scholarship left to replace CG? Hargrove is more of a small forward.
