The worst part about Pitt was the missed opportunity. I just hope they don't finish at the bottom of the ACC....but beating Louisville helps.

SIUC was a disaster, but it happened.

You had to figure we'd lose a game to a team that we should beat. Commonly called a trap game. Although, I wouldn't classify this game as a trap game. They happen to just about every team not named Duke. The Pitt game was particularly painful since we had a good shot at the end to pull it out. I don't think Pitt will be the bottom dweller in the ACC and beating UL's a pretty good indicator they aren't as bad as everyone expected. I hope they keep winning, it will make our unfortunate L look that much better. Not sure how any L can look better as it's like putting lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig.

Top 4 remain close together. In my book, Michigan should be #1; and I expect them to be by the time seedings come out.  But we'll see.
Of interest to the Bills:

Florida St rose two spots to #11.
Houston tumbled four spots to #21.
Seton Hall down to only 6 votes.  In comparison, the #25 team has 116.  So, they aren't even close to being ranked.
Long story short, come selection date, I seriously doubt we're going to have a 'marquee resume-building win'.  The best teams we've played ended in a blowout loss, and the loss to Houston.  We get zero credit for close losses.  Plus, if we'd have beaten Houston, they wouldn't even be ranked now, so that conversation is moot.
We just need to do our business.  I still believe winning the conference regular season (as long as its not with over 4 losses) gets us in.  That's where my sights are set.  I can't pin our postseason hopes on winning three games in the A10 Tournament.

Rankings Updated 1/21:

Things of interest:

First things first, SLU is receiving three votes.  Good to see some recognition.  Even if it doesn't relfect in the NET ratings, being ranked or near ranked really strengthens your position come Selection Sunday.  Well done boys; you've earned this so far.  Now lets keep pushing and get a number to the left of your name.  That's when the national attention comes.

Houston moved up four places to take the #17 ranking.

Florida State dropped out of the rankings, but has the most votes for an unranked team (i.e. #26).

And that's it.  No other A10 team receiving love.  No other opponents ranked or even receiving votes.  Certainly hurts our 'quadrant' performance.

One other thing I found interesting is Murray State.  I see in a lot of the projections, they are within a place or two of us.  This is the case here.  They received enough votes to be three spots ahead of us.  Essentially they are "ranked" #34, and we #37.

Another "eye test" variable that I think will help get more votes as well as off the bubble is if Bess continues to make a name for himself as a legit candidate for the next level.  As he starts getting more national attention, so will SLU.

I agree with this.  Sometimes, the national media wants to see certain players in the tournament more than certain teams.  If Bess has NBA discussion around him, it can only help our chances.

Most fans would too. What if somehow Murray State gets cut out of their out bid be a bummer not to see lottery pick Ja Morant

We didn't see Ben Simmons dance.  I am fine with waiting for Ja Morant  to be drafted, sport the orange and blue, and dish dimes to KD and KP.
