HoosierPal
Starting a thread to capture all the non A10 rumors. Established already that UConn wants Hurley. Yeah that's half A10. Smith out at Memphis, Hardaway the target Pitt is talking with Tom Crean Simmons out at Evansville, and Evansville product Calbert Cheaney is first on their list. Georgia offered to Thad Matta, and he apparently turned them down.

It’s really quite remarkable.

I can't find anything on Google. If not, why the heck would Evansville want to hire a guy who was DBO at IU for a few years and then an assistant coach for a staff that ran SLU into the ground? I realize he is a big name in Indiana and Evansville in particular, but my God, doesn't the guy need to actually accomplish something coaching wise to warrant being hired as their HC? almaman
I was never aware of him accomplishing one thing here.
thetorch
Cheaney has been out of coaching since his dismissal from SLU. Simmons is a good coach. Evansville is a tough job. He nearly had a NCAA tournament team a couple years ago.
HoosierPal
This is as much speculation as anything else, but a list for Missouri State from the Springfield News Leader includes Greg Heiar, LSU Assist - #1 on the wish list. Rob Lanier, TN Assist Kim English, CO Assist Steve Woodbury, Wake Forest Assist. (What if Steve Alford gets canned in UCLA? Would he want to go back to where he started?) HoosierPal
Georgia talking with Tom Crean. Sources told CBS Sports that a search firm working on behalf of the school initially inquired about Xavier's Chris Mack and Texas' Shaka Smart, both of whom respectfully declined. Georgia then offered its job to former Ohio State coach Thad Matta earlier this week. He declined the offer Wednesday.

HoosierPal
Two additional candidates for Evansville are Walter McCarty (from Eville, played at KY then 10 years in The League,) and Mike Lewis from Jasper IN, current Assist at Nebraska, and previous assistant at Butler. McCarty is apparently also interested in the Eastern KY opening.
