Semi OT - Porter Moser

Recommended Posts

Highly recommend reading the article and watching the video about Porter and the program he’s built at Loyola Chicago. Lots of things from the Majerus era that he has brought with him to Chicago. Will be rooting for them next week in the MVC tourney.

THe MVC teams always end up getting screwed come selection time.

If ford leaves the program at some point, I’d be perfectly happy if Porter ended up as our coach.

Kshoe, please please please, can we not even speculate about TF leaving SLU.  I see him building a Wich St./Gonzaga/Xavier type program and establishing roots in St. Louis, thereby putting an end to the "Hard to be a Billiken fan" phrase!

You are correct on the MVC always on the short list of At-Large Teams.  Missouri State was 21st RPI in 2006 and deemed not good enough by the selection committee.

Moser is one of the 'hot candidates' for moving onward and upward.  Chances are good he will receive interest from one of the many P5 schools who may elect or need to ditch their current coach.  He is 9th on this writer's list of hot coaches.

Heard the end of an interview between Frank and Porter last week. They mainly talked about how much he learned from Rick. Told a humerus story of how he was with Rick on an Indiana recruiting trip and they stopped at Culvers twice in a three hour period. Said he absolutely loved to recruit. That certainly showed here.

I would think Loyola is in the dance without winning the MVC tournament.

Unfortunately not. If Illinois State's season last year is any indication, the Ramblers will have to win out. With the departure of Wichita State The Valley is more of a 1 bid team than ever.

Loyola has to hold on today, but right now they have a better RPI, non conference RPI, much better record against top 100 teams than IL St had last season and better Pomeroy ranking.  They have a stronger resume right now than ISU had last season.

Very good read on Moser and Majerus.  Hope he gets to call Rick on Selection Sunday.

Some sweet revenge for Porter today. Beating the school that gave him a raw deal.

He was 51-67 and 22-50 in league play. I know there was some strange things that went on with his contract but he deserved to be let go. I am happy he is doing well now

Idk why (game was muted at bar) but they showed a lot of Yarbrough with his face in his jersey seemingly distraught postgame. Was weird lol. Ramblers will be the trendiest 12-seed upset going into the dance, and deservedly so. Fun team. Porter can have a run at coaching our guys any day*
