Kassius Robertson from a small school was the best grad transfer in the NCAA and Mizzou's best player.

I have no problem taking a shot on a grad transfer from a smaller program who has been productive. Especially one who can shoot.

To that point, TJ Henderson from IUPUI has hit the market. Averaged 11 ppg. Excellent free throw shooter and 36% from 3-point range. Scored 18 in a game against Gonzaga.

Most of the guard grad transfers at this point have been from lower conferences perhaps looking to move up.

This one could be the opposite - Dion Wiley, 6-4, from Maryland. Only averaged about 6 ppg, but was ranked #52 nationally coming out of high school. Known as an excellent shooter. Has battled injuries during his career and has been passed by on the depth chart by some other players. Could be the kind of player who could make an impact in the A-10. SLU can make the Javon Bess comparison during a recruiting pitch - a player from the Big 10 who battled injuries and didn't put up big numbers  - has come to SLU and thrived.

Bummer...

Maryland grad transfer Dion Wiley told ESPN he has heard from Georgia, Wake Forest, UAB and New Mexico State. Will visit South Alabama this week.

Nick Norton from UAB is a new grad transfer. A 5-10 PG from nearby Bloomington, IL. Averaged 29 mpg and an impressive 4.9 apg, also averaged 5 apg as a sophomore. Can also shoot it a bit, 34% from 3-point last year and above 80% free throw shooter for his career.

We'd have Pit Bull playing on an all-day loop if we could somehow pull that off.

I wonder what is the connection? That would be pretty sweet addition.

Ford has some connections in Florida which I guess helped us at least get a foot in the door.

There’s been a lot of debate about who starts at 2. I think Johnson would be the final piece to a very very good team.

This Johnson guy does look good. As does Mahan (50% from 3!). I think Ford is thinking along the same lines as the board here.

There have been about 50 names mentioned on the board. We gotta hit on one of them right?

The good news is that there are a lot of guards floating around out there and that is our obvious need. It's usually easier to find decent guards than decent bigs, so that also should be working in our favor.

Also we have a pretty good sales pitch. It goes something like," hey, you'll have very little competition at your spot, you'll have tons of minutes, and o ya, we're a tourney team with that spot filled."

We only have any actual interest in about 4.  The others are just posted because a certain poster has nothing better to do.

Grad transfer site.  It should blow up in the next few weeks.  Hover over Basketball Transfer and you will get the short list of those already commited.

59 on the April 3 open market list.   Take your pick.

5 have already landed.

Agreed, grad transfers are becoming more common.  There are a lot of them out there who would seem to fit the profile, so hopefully Ford can land one of them. It's like free agency in pro sports. In starting this thread, I figured that SLU would be focused on trying to land a grand transfer guard. That's what has happened and I suspect they've been in contact with more than the few names we have heard them tied to. And in the next several weeks even more figure to hit the market. As I posted in the original post, there are a couple of good links where fans can quickly and easily follow along... even those who are apparently very slow should be able to figure it out with ease . Glad so many have enjoyed the thread, 14 pages and growing. I think we're still one decent shooting guard and perhaps another combo guard away from potentially having a special season next year.

Grad transfer guard Troy Holston from South Florida is now available. He sat out this past year due to a knee injury. The previous year the 6-4 shooting guard averaged 10 ppg and led a bad South Florida team in 3-point shots made, although the percentage was not great. He was teammates with Luis Santos. He was known as a sharpshooter coming out of high school and was a 3-star recruit with some nice offers - Miami, Wake, Memphis and several SEC schools. He would have two years of eligibility, so it's like signing a juco.
