Gordon is probably the last local blue chipper we get for a couple of years.  Recruiting is cyclical.  In this two-year cycle, we have four kids (Watson, Liddell, McKinney, Hargrove) who look at SLU as a safety school.  Playing for the hometown school doesn't really mean anything to them. We recruit regionally and nationally now so we're going to be fine.

As for 2019, any discussion about local recruits outside of Yuri Collins I'm going to ignore.  It's largely wishful thinking.

I heard we were no longer interested and quit recruiting him

That's not what Watson or any of the reports have said.  He did explain his decision last night after he drove back in town.

So Watson lied about having a good relationship and rapport with Ford and Tate?  My response was to Skip saying we were no longer interested in Watson before he committed last night.

You call yourself a long time Billiken Board poster should know that Skip's post was a joke.  Whenever we lose a recruit some would post well we had lost interest in him anyway.  You just revealed yourself as not being a long time poster who follows the board routinely.  You clearly have returned only because of Martin' hiring and so you can toss bombs.  Now that you have been exposed go away.

Still have a good feeling on chances for 2020 kids?

Most of these kids are smart enough to answer this way. They aren't going to slam another school or coaching staff. He may well have had a relationship with SLU coaches, but another school got the player. We'll move on to the next guy.

It's not a phenomenon unique to billikens.com.  At the message boards of pretty much every major school, after losing a recruit, someone will opine along the lines of "We quit recruiting him" or "He isn't good enough."  It's a running joke here, but at most major schools, they really think that.  They want to believe that "If [our coach] want him, then he's sure to come; therefore, if he doesn't come, [our coach] didn't want him."

Capisci, STLHI?

2020 plays more to our strengths..  We're going to be the higher profile team in 2018-2019 and the best players in that class are coached by Justin Tatum.

Watch out for 6'6 CamRon Fletcher and 6'5 Kobe Clark down at Vashon.  They received their 1st offers from Missouri St this summer and are going to have a big year.  The offers will be rolling in very soon.
