Say we do this:

-13-5 in conference play

-Beat Seattle and Detroit

-Win 1 and lose 1 of the noncom tourney games

-lose to Butler

-beat Houston

-win 4 of the other  (?) games-

-we finish 21-10 in the regular season

-Get a 3 seed in the A10 tourney

-Lose in the Final game

-Overall 23-11 record

-11 or 12 seed in the NCAAT

-Make the round of 32 before losing to a 3/4 seed

Is that reasonable??

Sounds like an orgasmically successful season for next year.  Not deal with the devil sort of stuff but pretty close....

Absolutely.  If we can't approach that then that just means our new players are not what we thought they would be. I might be drinking the blue kool-aid, but I think that is very reasonable.  If I can count right, it looks like you have us going 4-3 in the ??? games, which seems ok, given that we don't know who those teams are, but I gotta believe that some of them are blood donors.

Right now, sight unseen, I like the schedule for the following:

Home:  Rhode and VCU come calling.  We don't have to go there.  That certainly can be used to our advantage.  I think La Salle, Bonaventure and Rhodey will all be picked above us to start the season.  Those will be the tough ones at home.  A sweep there is not really all that unreasonable.

Road:  Back to Philly and Olean so tough there.  They are not that tough of places to play in, especially at Gola so who knows.  Will the Davidson point guard be acclimated?  Can you win at Dayton with 13,000 Flyer Faithful screaming at you?  Is Mason truly on the rise?  And will the Joeys be injury-free and injury-recovered?

All in all, I'd say quite favorable for us.

From A10 Talk...

Saint Louis Billikens

Home – Fordham, George Washington, Rhode Island, VCU, Dayton, Duquesne, La Salle, Richmond, St. Bonaventure

Away – Davidson, George Mason, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph’s, Dayton, Duquesne, La Salle, Richmond, St. Bonaventure

Playing Dayton and St. Bonaventure twice will be tough, yes, but the Billikens get VCU and Rhode Island at home, two great opportunities. On the road, Saint Louis has a great shot of taking down Davidson, George Mason, Massachusetts, Duquesne, La Salle and Richmond. I really like this team heading into the 2017-18 season, and it definitely helps that the Billikens’ conference schedule is working in their favor.

Big Win Opportunities: A-

Relative Easiness: A-

I think that's a spot on summary. The hardest stand alone away game is Davidson and their stellar back court.

No shame is splitting the Dayton and SBU games by defending home court. I expect us to see an uptick in our home court winning % again this year; better crowds, more support, louder atmosphere.

Our home stats are actually pretty impressive, all things considered. The Chaifetz has been good to us.

Total 47 28 113 48 0.636 0.700

If you take out the final two Crews years, our home win % would be .722 and .774 respectively. I'd like to see both numbers with all years included hover above the 80% mark in the coming years.

I see you missed the point entirely. No problem. If you prefer the Texas Southern, North Texas, Texas-Pan Am, and Alabama A&M's of the world, then you're entitled to your opinion. I take more of an interest in local and regional hoops. But that's just me.

I understand but my response was to you using Indiana as an example for whey we should play the likes of SIUE and SEMO.  Obviously you missed the point I was trying to make regarding upgrading our schedule.  As was pointed out previously, some of those buy games are required so we can get P5 schools in a  tourney - neutral court.  I do get your point - just don't agree with it.

That is not true and you seem to have no idea what you are talking about.  Here is a clue--Chaifetz is a managed facility and Spectra is not a charity.

Nobody is asking Spectra to work for free - I would assume that their contract stipulates a certain number of home games.  At this point you have not offered one fact to cancel mine.

I was only going by what I was told and what I read on the board if that info was wrong then OK.

I know it's just a typo, but our average attendance last season was 5,593

Are you saying that last year's overall home attendance was 3593 - I would have thought it was more.  That is a big drop from Crews years.

Obviously we don't know many dates/days of the week for most of our schedule, but I think we can average 7500-8000 this year including the following guestimates for A-10 home games:  Fordham 6500-7000; GW 6500-7500; URI 9500-10000; VCU 9500-10000; Dayton sell out; DUQ 7000-8000; LAS 8500-9000; Richmond 8500-9500; SBU 8000-9000

Question, did we really have 22 homes games in RM's 2nd year?

That must be counting the 3 home games from the CBI.

Huh, this was the number on wikipedia for the entry on the Chaifetz, I thought it seemed low. Even for a down year.

Where do you get the numbers for our attendance?

I've kept track of Billiken stats for my own amusement since 1990-1991.  The attendance would also be available on the Billikens Basketball site.
