kwyjibo
SLU lost a tough game at Akron last Friday as SLUBALLS noted after the game. SLU was up 2 goals and lost. Big game against ranked Louisville on the road tonight. SLU is playing Denver at home Friday and they are off to a good start--ranked in several polls. Polls: NSCAA (coaches)--26th (last week 16th) College Soccer News (websperts)--16th (last week 15th) Top Drawer Soccer (websperts)--Unranked (last week 14th) Soccer America (websperts)--17th;(last week 17th) Rankings: Official RPI: not ready yet Gaucho Dan RPI: 46th (last week 86th--losing to a good team on the road really helps!) Massey Ratings (computer with MOV): 25th (last week 27th) The unranking by Top Drawer and to some extent NSCAA makes little sense. SLU was apparently good enough to be ranked 14th but loses to their 11th ranked team on the road and gets dropped. This site is pretty sloppy about such things (their poll this week focused on unheralded programs off to a good start). You can drop SLU a few places if you think it is indicative of something but wholly inconsistent to completely drop them. The A-10 at least won a few games this week but overall it is a bad conference. Davidson has a solid RPI start by virtue of the fact they have the top RPI SOS. VCU finally won some games and if they keep winning they will be an at-large contender as well. The rest of the conference has not been good. SLUBALLS
Damn. 90 seconds from knocking off a top ten team on the road. Heading to OT. SLU has done well though, outshooting them 10-9 and forcing their goalie into 5 saves. We can win this one.

SLUBALLS
Good set of highlights from last night courtesy of Louisville. OT goal not shown tough. http://gocards.com/watch/?Archive=5405 Sasha came up with some great saves (early point-blank header save) but also f'd up on the tying goal late in the game. Quick cross came in and although Tyler and Max were sandwiching the forward and Sasha was coming out to punch, Tyler gave up on jumping to clear the ball and Sasha pulled off from punching the ball clear. Good to get the win though in front of 2000 at Louisville. Another ranked team - Denver - comes to Hermann on Friday. Then I believe we have Indiana next Wed. billikenfan05
The penalty call on Philip was questionable at best.

SLUBALLS
I think it was Tyler David who was called for the PK. Philip was near the center of the box when the call was made.

Zink
That Hajderovic goal was special. Great run and a good enough finish. EDIT: Popovic is the one getting time with the USYNT, not Hajderovic...

FYI, the Indiana game is on Wednesday Sept. 30th (another week away)--homecoming game will be next weekend. The most encouraging thing this season has been the ability to score goals; 5 goals against 2 good opponents is encouraging.
WUH
The win moved us up to No. 15 in the Massey Ratings. Denver and Louisville are at 25 and 26 respectively with Indiana at 29. The only other opponent left in the Top 100 is Davidson with URI and Dayton just outside the Top 100.
SLUBALLS
How does one describe last night's 1-0 LOSS to Denver? Easy....one of the worst played games I have ever seen at SLU. It seems nearly impossible for SLU to lose to a team that had a grand total of TWO shots the whole night. TWO. The Bills looked lethargic with no dynamic movement in and around the offensive third. We had 5 total shots.....at home. Passing was atrocious all night with so many lazy or mishit passes that resulted in turnovers. Make no mistake....Denver was a quality team for sure who was very adept at moving the ball quickly with one touch ball out of their defensive third. But...we are at home, a place that we were unbeaten in 20 games, with a chance to continue to wrap up a three game series against ranked teams with a 2-1 record. This is a game that could haunt us around NCAA tournament time since we have to make the most of out non-conf games to offset the weak A10 schedule. This makes the Indiana game at home so much more important now.
