I’m 41 years old. About 30 pounds over Weight. I’ve been in 3 fights in my life…2 of them I took a right cross to the face and the lights went.

At best I’d be a good wrestling heel. Throw me in the ring with a fan favorite and I’ll make a nice fight out of it.

All that said, I would whoop McBrooms ass.
I have no idea who the other guy is but they are both a bunch of pu&$:;/.

I will never understand why people pay for these fights.

McBroom looked like he trained.  He had some novice technique.  The other didn't at all.

I boxed throughout my teens, these amateur guys if they are roughly the same size, whoever trains the most wins.

I wish boxing would make a comeback.  It is really entertaining.  The talent just isn't there anymore.  MMA just isn't for me.

Devils advocate here, but Don King also led boxing into a post-Ali/Foreman/Frazier boxing Renaissance. However, as his empire grew vis-a-vis HBO, Showtime, etc - attendance dwindled. I get where people want to crucify King for the boxing malaise of the post-Tyson/Holyfield/Sugar Ray era, but there wouldn’t have been that era without a promoter like Don King. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

disagree, I think it would of grown w/o that thief & murderer. Sport was big before tv era and that is what fueled popularity. even the best of times sport was rife with shady stuff, but almost every thing about him is crooked.

Good post - I see your side of the argument, for sure. But who would have carried the torch for boxing if it wasn’t Don King? In the advent of the TV era of sports, the personalities in the ring were the reason to watch. Ali, Frazier, Foreman. Once that Generation faded, it was almost more about the guys outside the ring - King, Cus d’Amato, etc. The press certainly loved it.

King didn’t ruin boxing. Boxers rightly wanting to make as much money as possible ruined boxing.  That meant big fights had to be on PPV and almost always tied to a casino.  That limited who could see big fights on tv or in person.

I don’t blame boxers for wanting to get as much money as possible, but it ended up with boxing becoming a niche sport because it greatly reduced the potential audience.

Jared Drew is a rapper now.

Majerus last 3 recruiting classes really sucked.

Two, maybe, but not three.  His antepenultimate (3rd from last) class was McCall/Evans/Jett/Loe.  Manning/Glaze followed them.  Lastly it was Carter/Drew.  Am I remembering incorrectly?

Yeah you are right.  I know Majerus was linked to Carter but I seem to recall him going down and out very quickly after that which means Drew was a [dead] kid.  Plus he came from Indiana and never played a game before redshirting an dleaving so that's got [dead] written all over it.  So I'd say last two sucked which I attribute to my belief Majerus was prepping hsi exit strategy.  And I'm not talking his ultimate demise but a jettison of all thing Larry Biondi.

@ our expense. sport was "beautiful" on its own.   Bringing all that BS that came  with his style ended up sinking sport. Tyson ear bite was the "have u no shame" moment for the HW division. Then allowing  all the different champs @ each weight made it ludicrous, left door open for all the ultimate fighter stuff to take over. I'm too old to get into that but it least they seem to have integrity in their structure & it does seem to be a true way of determining who is the best @ ass whipping.

Majerus signed both Carter and Drew in his last class; Crews wasn't even recruiting at the time.  Carter played a few games in 2012 but suffered a non-season-ending ankle injury and opted to transfer at the semester break when Crews refused to try to redshirt him.  Drew was redshirting that same season and then left before the next season began because of off-court problems.

Crews's first recruit was Crawford, followed by Agbeko.

That's all time 100% 3 point shooting Reggie Agbeko to you.

French is in Nashville today meeting with the Titans.

Awesome! I think that is the route he should go. If Mo Allie Cox, can do it, I think Has will have a decent chance. I think Has is a better athlete than Mo - excellent speed and great hops for his size. Also really good hands at catching the ball - just not so good at using his hands to shoot free throws, which he won't have to worry about.

French will be a beast if he's fine taking and giving a beating. The tight end position in the NFL is just about as hard as it gets physically... Maybe only second to middle linebackers and fullbacks.

what he did for 4 years as close as a b baller can get to  the grind of starting in the NFL. He can handle it. going from  hardwood to NFL seems  to  be exclusively TEs in  the modern era but most have been decent to good imo. Gates from Mizzou comes to mind one who made  a few $$ taking this route PI

Antonio Gates who played basketball at Kent State? He's the poster child of this jump from college basketball to NFL stardom (Future Pro Football HOFer - 8x pro bowler 5x all pro). Alie-Cox just signed a 1 year $3.4m contract, which I would assume is more than most people would expect in a solid career overseas. Would love to see a Billiken playing in the NBA, but I'll take NFL as a nice consolation prize any day.
