WOW the finality of this news is so hard to take even though it was known the Coach Majerus was very ill. He was a college basketball genius and should be put in the Hall of Fame. RIP Coach you will always have a special place in Billiken fans hearts.

I remember after I graduated in 2007, my parents took me to a nice dinner at Tony's downtown. After we finished and were stuffed with all this amazing food, I offered to buy my parents and brother a beer at Humphrey's. We walked into the bar in our Sunday best and ordered a round for my family. A second later, Jan came up to me and said, "Oh Diane! Come meet Rick Majerus!" My dad and i walked over and Rick was sitting in the corner just inside the door on the right with all his assistants finishing a rather large meal. Jan said, "Coach, this is Diane. She was the president of Blue Crew and just graduated. She's one of the biggest billiken fan you'll ever meet." He stood up, shook my hand and my father's hand and without skipping a beat said, "It's great to meet you. Here..." reached into his back pocket and pulled out a package and said, "have a sausage." That Tony's dinner was nothing compared to a lukewarm sausage from the back pocket of Rick Majerus. RIP Coach.

FOX 2 had a pretty nice little montage of coach tonight. I especially liked the moment when he took the mike from Guy and told the crowd he would take the team off of the court if they didn't stop throwing things from the stands. They really did break the mold with this man. I am really going to miss him.

To be honest, I got season tix with a friend the moment Majerus was named head coach. I had only bought single game tix prior to that. He is the main reason I am a Billiken fan. Let's dedicate this season to his memory.

Wow, I knew he was in bad shape, but always expected he'd make it and return to the Fetz for some kind of honorary night. You guys have pretty much said it all, but one final note. Having been a Bills fan for almost 50 years I never thought I'd live to see a weekend like SLU fans had in Columbus. It was different from our past, and rare, appearances in that RM's presence on the sideline really made us all believe we were capable of knocking off a number 1 seed. He made believers out of us, anything was possible with him coaching SLU. So, let's take that belief and hope our kids remember every little detail he taught them and they go on to have the season that had him so excited in the late spring. RIP, RM. The prayers of Billiken nation are with you.
