OrlandoStewart
Please tell me that, at least, it won't still be an exhibition for UMSL, like that 2006 game was for Quincy! No, It is a an exhibition for umsl and regular season for slu
kevinfootes
Easier said than done. It is hard for schools like SLU to schedule and if Rickma has had any effect so far he has made it more difficult. No big BCS teams and even some of the big established non-BCS teams will want to play us until they can be sure a loss to SLU won't look terrible on their resume. Who wants to come to SLU and get a loss against an undermanned SLU team while being outcoached by Rickma. We will have to establish ourselves before it gets easier to schedule at SLU. Wasn't there a group on here telling us that the combo of RM and the new arena would help with scheduling? Let's hope this is a one year blip. AGB91
If we're going to see a D-II school shouldn't we pay D-II pricing for the ticket?
kevinfootes
You would think Majerus would have the connections to fix that. Marquette won't play many non-conference road games. I think their game at Wisconsin was the only one last year. You might catch them on a neutral floor, but not on the road.

Let's hope this is a one year blip. If you are looking for names of those in this "group on here telling us that the combo of RM and the new arena would help with scheduling" then I admit I am one of this group. What's your point? Now that we control our own building, we have every date available - unlike playing at Savvis where we did not receive available dates until 5 to 6 months before the start of the season after the Blues, concerts, circus, Valley Tournament, etc. already picked dates and times. Such schedule kept us from playing certain teams who wanted to schedule 1 year or more in advance. RM does have connections and now it appears we may have games against top Jesuit schools. These are 2 definite advantages. Are these advantages outweighed by SLU finally getting a home court advantage and finally getting a good bench coach since Spoon possibly causing schools to become afraid to play SLU? Only time will tell. Also, don't discount what AD May is and/or is not adding to the situation.

bonwich
"Hey, all you incoming freshmen -- It's a new era here at SLU, and you're our foundation! Come see how exciting big-time college basketball can be. We have a legendary coach and a brand new arena -- and you'll be the first class to spend four years building a new Billiken tradition. Every game day will be a party day!!! Help us kick off that new tradition with the very first regular season game ever in the new Chaifetz center, against that perennial powerhouse, the UM-St. Louis Riv, er, TRITONS!!!!!!" They take me back to my elementary school days. Remember in third grade when you had to grade papers that were written by your fellow students? Maybe you have a younger child in your neighborhood, that could proofread your posts before you hit the send button. You will want to find a kid that has gone a little further in school than you, so anyone over 9 should do. I have a serious question ... when you reread your posts, do you laugh?
