Recruiting notes

Quick recruiting note.....STL Eagles 17's had mixed results in the absolutely ridiculously strong Houston Kingwood Classic this weekend. Lost a nail biter to EBO of Fresno...and Brandenburg played well vs 6'11 Louisville commit Jeff Withey....Suggs' poor shooting night was the difference. The Lopez twins formerly played for EBO, a good outfit. Eagles crushed a team from New Orleans....and eventually lost in the round of 64 to Alabama Challenge, a semifinalist and loaded team, .....JaMychal Green one of top 08 big men in the country...unsigned, and Marquette commit Nick Williams among others were too much to handle. Indian Elite/Team Indiana won the platinum division....Tons of great teams from all over.

Gateway, and St. Louis Majestics lost in the quarterfinals of the Silver brackets. (Order of tourneys went Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze....)

Pitt Jam Fest also a big event this weekend(Illinois Warriors and Illinois Wolves with strong showing..)....two big time AAU events this weekend....with coaches all across the land at both....many split coaching staffs attending each tourney.

Gateway only went 2-2.. Had to play a late game on Sat. 8:30pm they won on a last second shot by Femi John. Then had to play again at 10:40pm.

Not a good time to play, neither coach's players or refs wanted to be there.. so that last game turned into a Rugby match. That is the bad side of AAU/summer bball. Usually someone gets hurt in these games.

Good point. I think the new July event rules will help. Athletically related activities are precluded prior to 8 a.m. and the last athletically related activity may not begin later than 10 p.m.

Prospective student-athletes may participate in no more than five games over a rolling two-day period and in no more than three games on any one day.

STARS DEAL IN FAYETTEVILLE

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --

Finally, we have to admit we lucked into getting a look at 6-8 BF Richard Anderson from St. Louis (MO) Beaumont. Walking in between games the friendly sophomore big man struck up a conversation and told us that he was about to work over whomever he'd play. We watched for a bit and the athletic and well built big man was true to his word, swatting shots, running the floor and flashing a nifty jump hook. He's one we'll look forward to seeing more of down the road. ....
