St. Louis Eagles

Made the drive from Chicago where I was this weekend. St. Louis Eagles had some good showings at the Swish & Dish Spring Warm up in Milwaukee. Good event, teams from Chicago, and elsehwere in IL, all over WI, MN, IA, MI, IN...etc...much of the Midwest. Eagles won the 16's there last summer.

In 15's the Eagles had a strong tourney and finished 2nd overall to Mac Irvin Chicago whom they defeated in pool play.

In 16's the Eagles had a strong tourney and finished 2nd overall to Wisconsin Playground Warriors,

In 17's, the Eagles struggled after a promising start in first game, eliminated early by Wisconsin Playground Warriors, also lost to DTA Milwaukee. Mac Irvin defeated Spiece Indy for the title.

Was hoping to see the number one ranked Wisconsin Sophomore Jamil Wilson in the 16's final v the Eagles but he didn't play due to his mother's death shortly before the weekend. Plenty of good and notable players in all 10-17 age groups.

that's a pretty good showing by the 15's considering they are without Ryan Pierson of CBC, a pretty good 6'8" center and still growing. he injured his knee last week and will be out quite a while.

Each age group was missing a player or so for the Eagles.

The 16's had a great tourney...blowing out most teams...ran out of gas in the final and one of their bigs didn't play in the final because he got an elbow to the face, blood everywhere, probable broken nose in game before the finals. They could have used him in the final. But as I mentioned their opponent was missing the best Soph in state of WI too.

In the 15's, Kony Ealy, and Julian Johnson had a strong tourney. Two extremely hotly contested games with Chicago's Mac Irvin. Won one 58-57 and lost the final which was even throughout, then got down by 13 late, then furious comeback cut it to 2 but couldn't close the deal.
