? about the NIT

I thought I remember hearing the NIT would not require teams to having winning records to get invited to play in their tournament.Does anyone know if this is correct?

I think that used to be correct, but since the NCAA now owns the NIT, I do not think that rule applies anymore (largely influenced to the giantness of the Big East and the chances for big time times to have losing records)

BLKNS, I believe is correct in that there is no longer a formal requirement for the NIT team to be above .500. For the most part it is unlikely to happen very often (although it might happen to DePaul) as teams that expect to have trouble in the good conference schedule pretty easy in the non-conference (their SOS is pretty much guaranteed to be decent so they just want to get their wins in the non-conf).
