  1. After tonight’s game we were in 1st place in Concacaf qualifying. Mexico 2nd. Canada 3rd. Panama is a distant 4th. But Mexico is playing in Canada tonight. Top 3 automatically qualify. 4th place has to play a play-in against a team from another continent
  2. 1-Defend without fouling! Can’t get into foul trouble and don’t want to give them free points at the line. 2-Take care of the ball! Can’t give them free buckets in transition where they can take advantage of their a athleticism to run up and down the court. Force them to beat us in the half court where so far this season, they’ve relied almost exclusively on iso ball. 3-Play our game! Don’t try to change what’s worked for us just because this is Memphis and they’re ranked 11th. We don’t need to force anything. When we do that, we struggle. Play our game, and if they still beat us, we tip our caps. We don’t want to lose trying to be something we’re not.
  3. I’m not going to quote all of the last 3 of the above posts, but they’re all good posts and lead into the way I feel about the Memphis game. We need to defend, and we need to defend without fouling. Memphis is extremely athletic and talented, but they’re also young. I think we could be able to turn them over. I also think we might be able to frustrate them since we will be BY FAR the best defense they’ve seen. We also have to take care of the ball. I’m not just talking about Yuri, who I trust immensely. We can’t have sloppy passes by anybody. We’ve gotta be strong with the ball. If we can accomplish those 2 things, I genuinely believe we will be in this game until the very end. We’ve obviously gotta make shots, but if our offense keeps humming (the cutting, the ball movement) like it has been the past 3 games, we’re going to get clean looks. We just can’t have empty possessions that lead to easy buckets for Memphis.
  4. I don’t blame the ref for not seeing it. He was trying to break everything up. It’s just another example why it’s absolutely inexcusable that there’s not VAR for Concacaf qualifying. But I’ll take another dos a cero win!
  5. Totally agree. Gibson is a completely different player. And I mean that in the best way possible. He’s an infinitely more dangerous offensive player, the way he’s playing so far this year.
  6. I’m sure the university gains nothing from throwing a huge advocate for the school like Frank under the bus. I’m also sure the arena and it’s lots have cameras. They’ll let the police sort it out. But there’s more to the story than what’s in that article.
  7. I have heard a rumor that the whole story isn’t being reported here. There’s a reason it was so easy to steal Frank’s car that has nothing to do with SLU’s security. That’s not to say they shouldn’t be more diligent, I’m just saying certain details have been left out.
  8. So basically Hoop-It-Up at the collegiate level?
  9. He was A10 Rookie of the Week 2 weeks in a row before he got hurt his 1st year. My biggest criticism of Gibson has been that he’s been too 1-dimensional. If he keeps playing the way he has the first two games. He’s absolutely an all-league player. He just can’t sit behind the 3-point line hoping for someone to kick it out. These 1st two games are EXACTLY what I’ve wanted to see from Gibson! Really excited about it.
  10. He’s a sniper! That’s why said he’s not gonna be in the doghouse very long. Okoro gaining confidence. He obviously outclassed Harris-Stowe physically, but sometimes this is just the game you need to make you believe in how good you really are.
  11. Good start! I know it’s Harris-Stowe, but we’re hitting our open looks. Not to mention Yuri is a damn magician! He’s gonna be so much fun to watch this season.
  12. Actually about to move back to the ol’ STL. Turns out West Palm is the type of place that is fun to visit for vacation or if you can afford a Bentley. I’m not even kidding, the amount of Bentleys and Rolls Royces down here is mind blowing. But I found out I’m nowhere near fancy enough to live in south Florida. Lol
  13. I’d argue that St. Joe’s, LaSalle and GW are all worse than Fordham right now. It’s not at all out of the question that 1 of Duquesne/UMass/Mason underachieve or deal with a key injury or 2 to push Fordham outside of the pillow fight. There are several reasons for optimism since they hired their new coach. I really have no interest in the argument of “Fordham has always been comically bad, so that means they always will be comically bad.” In the immortal words of the band Cinemechanica in their song “Yen”, “You can’t say it can’t happen here/Just that it hasn’t happened yet”
  14. I got a troll post for this? Of all the stupid things I say on this board, THIS is a troll post?
  15. If I were a Fordham fan, I’d be cheering every single win I got. But mark my words, Fordham will NOT finish last this year. I think they have the potential to…finish outside the pillow fight. (dramatic gasp)
  16. I did notice one dunk where Nesbitt swung on the rim just a bit that I thought was a little borderline. Usually (not always) the refs give kids the benefit of the doubt unless it’s pretty blatant. I have absolutely no problem with it as long as he gets back on defense, and as long as he’s not getting in an opponents face to taunt them. I didn’t see Nesbitt do anything last night that Goodwin hasn’t been doing for years.
  17. Nobody is going to cal a technical for pounding your chest or talking trash. If so, JGood would’ve been T-ed up every game last season. It’s not that big of a deal.
  18. I wonder how many posters on Tiger Board could run 1 suicide before throwing up. It’s one thing to have a rivalry with a school, it’s another entirely to say stuff like that about teenagers they’ve never met. So obnoxious.
  19. I asked about this in the Recruiting-2022 thread but found my answer. Thames has signed too. I saw on Twitter that Sincere will be signing this evening.
  20. I saw Kramer already signed today. I saw Sincere will be signing this evening, but I haven’t seen anything about Thames signing today. I’m NOT suggesting that there is any problem, just haven’t seen anything. Has anybody else heard anything?
  21. I know this has already been said, but what class will Sincere be next year?
  22. That was probably the original intent for this game, when it was scheduled months ago, and our potential A10 player of the year was still healthy. That’s no longer the case. Our guys, including the starters, need every minute of live game action they can get to gel. That would’ve been the case even if Perkins was healthy. You don’t squeeze this game into the schedule just have all your starters not play. That defeats the purpose. Will Strickland, Williams, Lorentsson and Traore end up playing a lot in the 2nd half? Jesus, I hope so. But that doesn’t make this game any less important for the starters going forward.
  23. It was his 1st game in 2 years. Even how he looked tonight, how many big men in the A10 could keep up with him? Osun. Anybody else? It’s a short list. Let’s not pretend like the A10 has an abundance of 6’10 freak athletes. He’ll be fine.
  24. I couldn’t disagree more. Okoro was fine. It was his 1st real game in 2 years. Chill. If anything Traore’s effort tonight makes me feel even better about our frontcourt depth. If you were expecting a finished product tonight, your expectations were WAY TOO HIGH!
