  1. I wouldn't be so sure: Per 40 Minutes Season School G GS MP FG% 2P% FT% TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 2019-20 Memphis 24 4 317 0.708 0.723 0.42 9 2 2.4 2.1 4.4 6.1 10.2 2020-21 Memphis 26 0 317 0.549 0.549 0.36 9.6 1.6 1.6 2.1 4.2 6.1 12.4 2021-22 Memphis 31 7 366 0.539 0.545 0.48 9 2.5 2.5 2.7 5 6.9 14.9 2022-23 Memphis 20 3 290 0.575 0.583 0.76 9.9 1.1 1.7 2.6 3.3 6.6 15.6 Career Memphis 101 14 1290 0.577 0.583 0.52 9.3 1.9 2.1 2.4 4.3 6.4 13.3 Season School G GS MP FG% 2P% FT% TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 2018-19 Oregon 37 22 502 0.469 0.469 0.47 14.5 0.7 0.9 2.4 3.2 7.9 13.8 2019-20 Oregon 29 18 498 0.537 0.537 0.47 14.7 0.9 1.1 2.7 2.3 8.3 11.7 Career Oregon 66 40 1000 0.497 0.497 0.47 14.6 0.8 1 2.6 2.7 8.1 12.7
  2. I don't think SLU's NIL affiliate (or whatever the right term is) is in the business of buying players though. It sounds like they're in the business of providing "great support after graduation." The tanking approach doesn't work as well when your paying guys out 2, 3, 4 years down the road.
  3. Army and/or Navy occasionally sneak into the Top 25 in football. That's not by accident. Also, like any other school, nationally televised games, bowl games, high rankings, etc.... are great marketing and recruiting tools. They help get the next generation of heroes to defend our country in the door.
  4. Seems like the least concerning result possible. The reasons for the move are very clear and understandable to anyone. Kind of like the Brock Vice departure.
  5. A lot of good points there. However, I don't think "we ended the year outside the top 100" is accurate. Wherever you look - NET (97), KenPom (96), ESPN BPI (89), Sagerin (84) - last season's team was top 100.
  6. Makes sense. Before the calculus was looking for a "good fit" and making a leap of faith to a program that was "best" for you. Now it's in kids interest to see if they can scare up an extra $5-10-15K. They're incentivized to wait around and see if more money comes along, whereas simply getting scholarship offers they probably had a better "final" list sooner. It might even be a good strategy for some transfers to wait until some programs feel a bit desperate and try and scare up some more alumni cash.
  7. There's still something to be said for media market even if the Bills aren't getting Cardinals-like viewership. There's a reason that schools like Rutgers and Cincy get scooped while Western Kentucky and Memphis get left behind. Conferences want to be in the biggest possible media markets.
  8. I'd think the Bid East's top choice by far would be Gonzaga. Otherwise it's the usual suspects: Dayton, VCU, SLU, Wichita State, maybe UMass or Richmond.
  9. It's only the Ford Haters Club that has been acting like their hair is on fire - from one thread to the next. CJ Noland committed?! Fire Ford! CJ Noland decommitted?! Fire Ford!
  10. Thanks for the analysis Wiz. Credit to Malcolm for improving his FT shooting. That 76.3% was a big step up from his prior campaigns.
  11. RIP Rick Hummel. A singular contributor to a great sports city.
  12. I suppose we'll objectively find out this upcoming season if the Bills finish above 4th.
  13. Maybe it took the board a while to pick up on this news because it is the least surprising development of the entire off season. Whether he went to Europe, the D-League, another school, or nowhere at all, his legacy at SLU was baked. Going to a Tenn or a K-State won't change it. Good luck Yuri. Thanks for the dimes.
  14. Sounds like @SLU_Nick might take that bet.
  15. So more offensive production in fewer games (and fewer mpg) than either season of Okoro's before he got to SLU. That's good to hear. Excited to have Brad on Team Blue!
  16. I don't know anything about Gordon's motivations, but the era of kids leaving an otherwise good situation to chase 5, 10 or $20K is upon us. Not that they shouldn't. But "I like it here, have learned a lot, and have made good friends and relationships" is often not going to be enough to hold onto marketable players. Sucks for schools like Grambling State with limited financial support/resources.
  17. I think that one video caused a lot of undo hype. His stats from his prior two years at Oakland were nothing to get excited about (34% fg, 33% 3pt, 1.5 assts, 2.1 TOs). Jones and Weaver were better in each of those categories, but they never put up 36 on MSU.
  18. Hard disagree that a Rashad Williams type offers more potential upside than a Cissé. If you'd gone with almost any other non-highly recruited experienced transfer - Marten Linssen, Deandre Jones, even Tay Weaver - that comment would start to make sense.
  19. Here's a somewhat objective critique of that hire - too much overlap with Coach Tate's recruiting strengths. Many of Cuonzo's big recruits Jeremiah Tilmon, Torrence Watson, Javon Pickett, Mark Smith, Mario McKinney, Yaya Keita were local guys, some of whom we recruited and had a decent shot at, but they ended up choosing differently. Coach Tate covers the same ground - Jordan Goodwin, Terrence Hargrove, Javon Pickett, Yuri Collins, Jordan Nesbitt, Carte'Are Gordon. We might be better off with an assistant who's recruiting strengths compliment Coach Tate's, instead of perfectly overlapping them.
  20. What makes you think that? I'm asking seriously. Forte is moving much closer to home, to a program that just won the NIT. He was basically the #4 coach at SLU, having come here from Sam Houston State in 2021. He might be #2 or 3 at UNT. Probably a good thing that being an Assistant at SLU can open up new opportunities for more junior coaches. What makes you think there was any unhappiness by anyone involved in Forte's move?
  21. So his dad coaches UNLV football and the coach that recruited him is going to North Texas. The Mountain West had the NCAA runner-up. North Texas are the NIT Champions. Brock Vice de-committing makes sense for some pretty clear, logical reasons, with no woe is us, sky-is-falling lamentations and Ford bashing required.
