  1. I hope his next transfer is as successful as his last. I mean that in the bet way. Good luck to him.
  2. Sounds like a potentially good match. But no more scholarships unfortunately.
  3. So ture. I suppose the same goes for arbitrary minute thresholds of what constitutes a successful signing. Dude averages 17 solid minutes per game on the road to the Sweet 16 and suddenly it's looking like you hit the mark.
  4. No need to worry about that. Marten has already proved he's no Rashed Anthony. Also 20 mins seems a bit high considering how deep this team is. Also, averaged over the 31 game season Diarra averaged less than 1 mpg, Hankton averaged less that 2 mpg, and I don't think Hargrove and (to an even lesser extent) Perkins accounted for much time at the 5. Point is, there's just not a whole lot of time to go around and under the 20 minute threshold one can still be a significant and worthwhile contributor (see Hargrove - 12mpg and JBJ - 15mpg)
  5. Not sure if there's anything to it, but Marten's season at UNCW can be broken into four quarters offensively: First 6 games: 6.5ppg, 60.0 fg% Next 10 games: 14.1ppg, 67.4 fg% Next 8 games: 5.8ppg, 37.7 fg% Last 8 games: 13.9ppg, 66.7 fg% The changes don't appear to be due to injury, because the minutes he was getting and the boards he was pulling down were pretty consistent all season. Not sure if there's anything to it. Probably nothing. Maybe another player's injury? Maybe just the ebbs and flows of the season. Perhaps UNCW was trying some different things offensively for different stretches since they had some truly dismal stretches, including a 12 game losing streak. The kid had 2 double-doubles, and 2 near double-doubles w/9 boards.
  6. Here are Marten's stats from his two years of college hoops, instead of just that one game:
  7. Marten's line from UNCW"s only CAA Tourney game shows that he can compete when it matters.
  8. For the rasp, blue and black berries - smash/slice them up at all or just throw them in whole?
  9. Anyone remember Big Jake's on Delmar? Big saucy ribs and slices of white bread. It was solid.
  10. While missing the A10 tourney was brutal, we did get in a full regular season. And honestly, while we were playing really well, getting to the big dance was still a long shot (basically requiring beating Dayton, which no one in the conference had done in 18 attempts). I think that 2/18 loss to UMass really put us in NIT-land - but that's besides the point. Point is, the non-con season (usually) starts the first week of November, which unlike other sports that are facing complications or cancellations of their seasons (NHL, MLB, NBA) or the start to their season (NFL - despite them putting their head in the sand and pretending that's not the case), the NCAA Basketball season is just late enough that it could benefit from other leagues figuring out some of the logistics (screening players, playing in empty stadiums, etc...) and what the new normal will be for the time-being. It would be kind of amazing, but seems possible, that the off-season could overlap perfectly with the worst of the disruptions. It will always suck to have missed the 2020 A10 tourney, but '20-'21 was always the optional vision. Watching ZeroZeroZero on Prime. Really good globetrotting drama about drug smuggling - grittier and less Captain America-y than Jack Ryan, in a good way.
  11. Interesting the Skip Prosser left Xavier for Wake. Such a move seems much less likely today.
  12. I'd think Philly would be at least as strong as St. Louis in terms of talent pool.
  13. Plenty of great schools, in great cities, with strong local talent in the A10. While Kingston, RI might be something of a challenger, St. Bonaventure and Olean easily wins as the least desirable place in the league. I just think of someone like Coach Ford, who as a family man would want good schools, good healthcare, good restaurants, fun things to do, cultural institutions, convenient travel, etc.... Olean would be brutal. Impressive Mark Scmidt has only led the Bonnies to two losing A10 seasons in the last 10.
  14. Good points. Makes me wonder if a kid in Perkins' circumstances could actually be helped by having taken the Juco route. Sure he's technically a senior, but in some ways (maybe including recruiting and scout awareness?) he's more of a sophomore. Almost like he isn't a "lowly" senior, but more of that diamond in the rough you describe? I realize that could may make zero sense - just strange to think of him as a beleaguered journeyman senior that scouts will look past when he broke onto the scene 4-5 months ago.
  15. Agreed. Coach mentioned a few weeks ago how he hadn't had a chance to sit down with each player individually and have his usual post-season debrief. Probably happened a bit later than usual because of the recent disruptions / strange end to the season. They probably went over the appropriateness of declaring with Goodwin and French. That's also probably where Hankton got a sense of what would work best for him going forward. And one can imagine the Perkins conversation went something like "You're already performing at a high level, but don't quite have the D-1 resume. You've put yourself in a position to make a name for yourself next year and be as strong an entry as anyone with the track record to back it up."
  16. But, with there being no sports right now, including combat sports, this thread is the next best thing to watch.
  17. Here's one: Q But — but do you think every state in this country should be prepared for mail-in voting in case we’re in a situation — THE PRESIDENT: No, because I think a lot of people cheat with mail-in voting. I think people should vote with ID — voter ID. I think voter ID is very important. And the reason they don’t want voter ID is because they intend to cheat. When you get something, when you buy something, you look at your cards and credit cards and different cards — you have your picture on many of them. Not all of them, but on many of them. You should have a picture on your — on your — for voting. It should be called “Voter ID.” They should have that. It shouldn’t be mail-in voting. It should be: You go to a booth and you proudly display yourself. You don’t send it in the mail where people pick up — all sorts of bad things can happen by the time they signed that, if they sign that — if they signed that by the time it gets in and is tabulated. No, it shouldn’t be mailed in. You should vote at the booth. And you should have voter ID, because when you have voter ID, that’s the real deal.
  18. ^They haven't exactly been cycling coaches recently as Coach Neubauer has now been there for 5 seasons. SLU hasn't had a coach for more than 5 seasons since the 1990's.
