@littlebill:  not much if only salad dressing.  I can't see him polishing off $200,000 worth of salad dressing, no matter how large a family he is feeding.  And is salad dressing the new bitcoin?

@f05:  for what?  Posting a picture on Instagram?  What does one picture get you?  Like those people in Times Square and in costume?  Maybe $20 per photo.  Or is it $200,000 for this photo?

@johnbj14:  what does a "standard endorsement deal" go for?  Does Tatum go for the same price as Yuri Unknown?  I don't 'follow' Tatum so does he just do Instagram posts?  And since I'm not in St. Louis, I don't know if Tatum is on the tube hawking Imo's.  Is he?  Is Yuri?  Standard is standard right?  Tatum and Collins DO bring the same advertising clout, right?

Tons of cynicism in all the above but the question is still a legitimate one:  does he make money on this?  Last time I asked, some smart ass said Strickland was getting all the chicken he could eat at Cane's.  All the chicken and or salad dressing doesn't amount to much in terms of dollars for these poor kids.  And I'm not some great entrepreneur who thinks he knows how all this hashtag crap and followers and the like works.  So I'm asking.  And I know you don't know what this deal is or that deal --- but doesn't someone know how a standard deal might work.  What about the Fred/Salsa deal?  In cokmparison, how much does a podcast pocket for having its own salsa deal ... for comparison's sake?

I've said in the past I'm all for NIL deals but what is being done now is not what the spirit of the law entails.  And I know there is no law because the NCAA abdicated all responsibility here and is only now trying to put the genie back in the bottle.  And I still contend that SLU NIL deals will pale in comparison to under the table money being paid out by these booster clubs.  It's one thing to pocket some chump change on NIL deals as opposed to making al living off your college basketball playing days.

Well considering 900 people have already liked it and thousands have seen it, basically an ad with a very predictable amount of views due to the amount of followers Yuri has. Pasta House pays him because of his large following.

imo we had the depth and didnt use it and then the quality of the depth fell off because of lack of use and loss of confidence.   kind of a self fullfilling scenario.   it is what it is and i am now convinced will always be such.   but i will say we seem to be in the running annually now.   and i like that.  so i am satisfied with coach ford.   keep him till he's 70 i say.

I agree. Can't have the depth in conference if we don't give the bench guys a run in December

h mart, you are taking the issue out of context.   the problem us fast guys want is not to let the foot off the gas too early.  yes we play fast for like 30 minutes then we all at once go into milking the clock and not being in position to score when it gets to 5 seconds left.

so the overall stats are going to read as you state.   my B!tch is stopping what was working and going to a clock milking offense and letting the opponent back in the game by mismanaging that.   i say dont leave what's been working.  and if it is truly a matter of the players on the floor are tired, then use the dam bench.

I don't disagree with that. I would say that it's the lack of depth and fitness that was the problem.

not if you are playing fast on both ends.   you will have to sub.

only when we play walk it up the floor and use the entire shot clock is the 30+ mpg top 5 player the choice.

I still don't understand this idea that we walked the ball up all the time. We finished the season at 106 in possessions per game. Six spots behind the Jayhawks. We played faster than 2/3 of the country. That's not slow basketball. I'd be happier if we sped it up a bit too, but we really pushed the ball more than you're suggesting.

We know the facts that Strickland was here for 2 academic years. We also know the fact that Victoria College is a community college offering a 2 year program. It stands to reason that he would have to take a step back academically.

Isn't it possible that you take pre requisites or gen eds that you didn't get to yet? Or maybe start a different program?

We did just fine with Cody Ellis playing 26 min a game in the frontcourt.

Cody did a lot of little things defensively that made us better. He took a ton of charges and his defensive rebounding was good enough. His ability to score kept him on the floor also. Not saying Andre can't be that guy, but we haven't seen any of it yet though.

On the topic of following players, it is criminal on the part of Billiken fans that Perkins, Okoro and Jimerson don’t even have a thousand followers on Twitter.  Come on Billiken fans, do better.

True. Although I always have a hard time finding Perkins because he doesn't have his full name displayed

New names being tracked by the staff:

-Joe Reece (Bowling Green) - From Vashon, went to ODU, transferred to Bowling Green, and was dismissed in February. Said he wants to play out his college career but I'm not quite clear how much eligibility he has left. He's played 2 seasons but is listed as a junior. Probably 2 left.

-Elijah Taylor (Notre Dame) - Listed at 6-8, 242. Didn't play 2020-2021 due to injury. Then academics kept him off the floor this season. He said he'd get these "unforeseen circumstances" worked out and promised to be back soon. But he hit the portal three days ago.

I saw that Reece retweeted something that mentioned he has one year left. He also played with TJ at ESL

  9. Did anyone see Yuri’s recent Instagram post asking Deandre Jones to run it back one more time?

Thoughts on DJ returning for a final year?  Does he have eligibility considering his junior season was only 10 games played due to injury?

Chandler Vaughn is the only player that left the door open to return to SLU. He had a strong showing with L.A. Galaxy, and he signed with their MLS Next Pro team.

Got it. I just don't remember seeing anything about him not returning. Must have just missed it.

Mason is not on SLU’s Spring roster. That’s correct. He had a brief trial with Sporting KC II.

Keller is a sometimes starter for Austin FC MLS. Becher, Schulte, Parker, Niece, Vaughn, Murana, Palazzolo have all signed with, and, have been starting for their MLS Next Pro teams.

Yeah I see that. Does anyone know if he's going to be on the squad in the fall?

The question was sincere! I've never personally heard of him being involved in the community, I could just be out of the loop.

Got it! Yeah of all the billionaires I think he does some good for the sake of doing good

    For starters, that guy sucks.

Is there any evidence of him supporting St. Louis though? In my experience ~95% of St. Louis doesn't know 1) who he is 2) that he's from STL.

I'm pretty sure he and Jim McKelvey are a big reason the Cortex development went through. They also committed a ton of money to building a major office for Square here. And donated a ton of money to Missouri teachers a few years back. I wouldn't say he's done nothing for St. Louis. Could he do more? Sure, but there are quite a few uber rich people from St. Louis that do much less.
