IF Kellen commits to SLU, I'm calling it early that the Mizzou trolls online will claim that Mizzou's offer to Kellen wasn't really a committable offer / only given to him bc of his dad, MIZ wasn't really recruiting him, and that MIZ already has/will get better players with their open scholarships.

Snelling is already setting the stage with this thread.

The claims most certainly will not be in the tongue in cheek / joke variety of "we stopped recruiting him" posts on this board.

Speaking of that tweet by Snelling, can anybody tell me who Christian Jones is and how he compares to other local kids?  I saw he committed to Mizzou and was shocked when I noticed it was a basketball recruit from East St. Louis on BBE that wasn't even on Pistol's list that we were interested in.  The only other offer he had that I saw was DePaul.

Reed from Chaminade is going to Purdue.

    This is per KTVI.

She reported this last night?  Wow, find it hard to believe since he is visiting Purdue this weekend he committed the first night of going there for the visit?  Seems incredibly odd.  Usually at least the Sunday before they leave.

And Stu walks it back. How effing stupid is this guy

Didn't you post that he was clueless earlier in the thread, deleted it when he said it was what he was told by SLU and now that he seeked out clarification from SLU to make sure we are getting correct information, you are calling him stupid?  I guess I just don't get it.  I appreciate him first reporting what he was told and second, trying to clarify by reaching out to SLU to make sure the information is correct.

SLU did almost have Tatum visit campus when it was a dead recruiting period and was trying to schedule a game after conference tournament when it isn't allowed.  Not like they don't make mistakes so telling Stu wrong information seems realistic.

Gonna be so close between Us, Wich St, Col St, Utah St, and Ole Miss for the last 2 spots (as long as there are no more bid stealers)

I don't get why Drake seems to be a lock looking at the brackets.  They played 8 Q1 and Q2 games but against 3 teams.  Our 8 Q1 and Q2 games were against 7 different teams.  Our BPI, Kenpom, Sagarin, Avg Net win, and Avg net loss all better than theirs.  I just don't get why they seem to be safe.

    Coach on 550 tonight.

In June, team was back together and tested 3 x per week. Six to 8 months, nothing.  Then in late December he got a call about 2 positives, and then days later most (8) of the rest of the team were positive.  Team is healthy today.   Coach was positive also.  He has been out of isolation for a week.  He gets fatigued easily.  'I was one of the ones who got hit harder than the rest.'  Some of the days were bad for him.  None of the 10 players had serious symptoms.

He doesn't want the +individuals to feel guilty.  He doesn't know how it caught the team.

On day 2 they delivered bikes to the players.  Then 8 other guys came down with it, and they couldn't use the bikes.  So only 3 or 4 guys were doing bikes.  10 guys did nothing for 10 days....zero, nothing.  Being in a room for 10 days is a mental challenge, seriously.  We have to take this slow.  Team is completely out of shape.  Five or 6 guys did individual workout today, 2 more tomorrow added tomorrow, 2 more on Sunday, and by Thursday everyone back in.

Thanks for the recap!  Why can't the players use bikes if they had it?  I had it in November and felt bad for a couple days but still worked out everyday.  If the symptoms weren't serious I guess I don't get why they couldn't work out.  Just a health concern thing?

The question I'd have is whether those 3 are 3 of the 4 Ford references, or they actually got it back in the summer/fall and Ford is counting them in the group that has had Covid.

To me, it sounds like they got it now but could be wrong.  It is a long article but a few excerpts from it.

And then it all stopped, the virus doing what viruses do, spreading through nearly the entire team, halting the season and the Billikens in their tracks.

When the Billikens do reconvene by next week, hopefully, Ford doesn’t anticipate much basketball at first, which is why he believes that Jan. 20 game against the Minutemen is a pipe dream. “They’re not touching a basketball for several days,’’ he says. “They’ll condition on bikes, slowly get back into it.’’ With so many players having tested positive, he’s worried about them physically — pointing to the still unknown details with the collapse of Florida’s Keyontae Johnson — but he’s every bit as concerned for them mentally.

Today, I am writing to give you an update on the current attendance policies at Chaifetz Arena for men’s and women’s basketball games. Thanks to a continued open dialogue between the Saint Louis University athletic department, the Saint Louis University leadership, and City of St. Louis public health officials, we are happy to announce that a limited number of attendees will be admitted into Chaifetz Arena for men’s and women’s basketball games.

To start, we are pleased that the families of our student-athletes and staff will be allowed to attend games. They have sacrificed so much over the last several months, and it was important to us to make sure that our student-athletes had the opportunity to play in front of their loved ones.

Next, at this time, a limited number of season ticket holders have been approved to attend games. The criteria for attending games will be based off of Billiken Club priority points. A member of the Billiken Athletics staff will contact you if you meet the priority point criteria to attend games. Please note that at this time there will also be no public ticket sales for games at Chaifetz Arena – tickets will only be issued once contact is made with the account holder.

We understand that a number of season ticket holders and fans will not be able to attend games at Chaifetz Arena during this stage. Our No. 1 objective during this time of challenge has been – and will continue to be – the safety and well-being of Billiken student-athletes, staff, and community. We will continue to engage with SLU leadership and City of St. Louis officials to ensure safety protocols are in place. Capacity limits at Chaifetz Arena will remain fluid throughout the year, and we will communicate any changes to you as soon as they are made.

  8. With Jimerson, Carter Chapley tweeted out how he told him before the NC state game that it has been a tough adjustment without fans for depth perception.  Not to find excuses but for shots like the one he missed bad at the end of the game last night, I can easily see how that can impact a shot like that.

MU is better than everyone thought.  Tilmon would absolutely dominate us if Has ever got in foul trouble or had to come out. But I still think we are the better team. They don’t have two guys that can put it in the bucket like perk and Jimerson.

If Has were to get in foul trouble, Tilmon would have already been in foul trouble.  He definitely has struggled with that and tonight was a good example where he didn't do anything because they called everything.

I agree though, I wasn't overly impressed with either team.  Illinois seemed to go as Ayo goes.

Mizzou is better than people thought but then again it is filled with a bunch of 3 and 4 star recruits and finally will make the tournament after they played together for 4 years.  They only have 1 underclassmen that played any minutes tonight.  I thought Watson was going to be a good player but appear to be off on that one.

So much discussion of rankings the last few days, thought I’d throw a trivia question out.

Which team was ranked #1 in the very first week of the very first year of the revered AP poll?

    Try to guess without researching.

I only knew this because I think it was when we made the top 10 during last year with the Majerus kids it was mentioned how we have the longest drought since being ranked number 1 with the first time being first year of AP poll.  I think it was then or another time shortly after that was mentioned several times.
