  1. Hey people it is time to put away the defeat we suffered last night and get into Thanksgiving mood. Things will get better for sure. Happy Thanksgiving and all the best to all of you.
  2. I went to the game expecting a win and came back with a defeat. Most of the game they were passing the ball outside the zone and making few real physical attempts to penetrate it. I guess Detroit saw the videos of our game against Providence and so will all of our opponents. We got better on the last part of the second half more physical and less sleepy. Agree Hines shoots entirely too many bricks to be allowed to shoot some more. Anyway we lost, too bad.
  3. Don't ask your mechanic if you should sell your old car either.
  4. In other words kwyjibo the computer is only as good as the guy who is programming it, correct?
  5. If this is the case Ace, the family made the wrong decision. Yes, I know they were trying to safeguard the kid from further injury during play (prior to NBA). He had a small disc problem that could likely have been treated with exercise and pain killers, which is probably what the Drs. at Mizzou said. The parents chose otherwise. Surgery is always worse than no surgery, that is why you should never choose to have surgery if you can do without it. If the one and dones start playing the Dr. shopping game (shop Drs. until you find out one that tells you what you want to hear, in this case surgery), a lot of these kids may wind up worse off than they would have been without this possibly not absolutely necessary surgery. Always remember that surgeons make money by doing surgery, not by advising patients against surgery. If there is a surgical treatment for it, why not do it?
  6. I believe Tiger Woods has had several back surgeries, the limitations mount when you have surgery multiple times.
  7. Yes, I know I have been Captain Obvious for a long time in this board. I do feel awful for Michael Porter Jr, and wish him a good and full recovery.
  8. All I can say is that I wish Michael Porter Jr. and full and permanent recovery and that I hope he is drafted by the NBA this year. All the best to him and his family.
  9. Brianstl you are, from my point of view, entirely correct as to what the aims and needs of the University are in regards to this investigation. I also tend to think that whatever the end result of the process is, it will lead a certain percentage of the people to anger against ______ (fill the blank). This is why the University cannot give the appearance of acting in the best interest of the players or the accusers, but must take a position of having made a fair decision to all parties involved. This is a very complex situation, and on top it all of that hangs the possible penalty, if the situation is not handled strictly according to regs, of losing Federal funding. Given these factors I think the idea of making an announcement of any kind before all possible angles are totally covered is probably incorrect. True there does not seem to be a criminal issue involved in this case, they are not guilty of having infringed any law, but that is not the only thing they are supposed to deal within the context of title IX or the context of the University's code of conduct, or even the current frantic state of constant revelations of improper sexual advances going everywhere. This is not an easy situation to deal with anyway you look at it. Personally I would hope there is a favorable outcome for the players, I just do not think the University has had the necessary time to go over all the requirements of title IX yet, and they have not had the chance to fully evaluate the possible consequences to the University when they decide to go in a particular way vs going in a different way. Some things cannot be hurried, and I think this is one of them. I do not see any announcements coming out Thanksgiving (just because this would be a favorable time to do it from the point of view of the players). There is just too much hanging on the balance for the University to hurry up with a decision in this case. I think that the fate of this year's basketball team is not the most important or even one of the main considerations that the University will use to decide what they are ultimately going to do about this. In my opinion, it will take a significant amount of time to reach closure in this situation.
  10. BilliKitty if you want to post something as a joke, blatant or not, use the blue font color. That way everyone will know it is a joke or sarcasm or whatever.
  11. What kind of a consolation is that? The University of Sioux Falls is also a Div II school. You mean to say that Mizzou is at par with the University of Sioux Falls?
  12. Emporia State is a Div II school. The fact that Mizzou who is currently ranked to 50 could only beat them by 5 miserable points tells volumes about Martin's lack of ability to coach.
  13. I think Ford is too good a coach not to take advantage of all the talent in the team. For example Anthony is starting to move and do something when he plays, Foreman is looking better than he did, and French has lost his early inhibition but still needs to control his fouling. This is a work in progress, we do not have a fully functional team in all aspects of the game, let's give some time to Ford to figure out how to deal with this. When the absent guys finally get to play, assuming they do, they will have to go through some adjustment to fit into whatever the team has developed into by that time. I think we will do just fine this year.
  14. This is a reasonable explanation of what Pomeroy does. However, if and when we get back the missing players we will have to play a number of additional games for his system to place us correctly since we would be adding significant offensive capacity mid way in the season. The rankings for SLU are bound to be off for some time still.
  15. Pomeroy is just applying statistics based on past performance (last year's for sure plus whatever else he does) + the results of the few valid games (Rockhurst does not count) we (us and the rest of A10) have played this year. The results are pretty bad for A10. As I mentioned before the Bills are the only team in A10 that has beaten a top 50 adversary so far. So the numbers say A10 is down and is heading down this year. I agree he will get more accurate the more games we (us and the rest of A10) play this year.
  16. Sure they do, but the Universtiy is not going to do anything about it until the process is over.
  17. Dayton and Old Dominion were ranked closely, too bad for Dayton.
  18. If the season was to end today it would be a valueless dance, with invitations based upon essentially no playing experience from anyone. The invites and would probalby favor those teams with a high reputation and blue blood basketball lines. We would most likely not make it after one win over a top 50 team and a bad rankings for number of prior years (under Crews + last year). Wake up and smell the coffee VeniceMenace. We have to prove we belong in the dance before we have any chance to get invited. The only way is to play a whole season and to rake in enough wins both home and away, and against a number of high ranked teams as well. We are not there yet.
  19. NH I do not think we will make to the dance with our current under strength line up.
  20. We all know that will not be the case, however it can be said that so far the Bills are playing (particularly being under strength) beyond expectations.
  21. Agree, I just wanted to make a note at this time about our achievement so far with an under strength team. We beat Va Tech a top 50 team, and were beaten by Providence another top 50 team (in consecutive days). Only a few of the other A10 teams have played against a top 50 team so far and they all have been beaten by the top 50 team. The results are as follows La Salle lost to Northwestern, RI lost to Nevada, George Mason lost to Louisville, VCU lost to Virginia, Fordham lost to Florida State, and George Washington lost to Florida State. We are, so far the only team in the A10 that has beaten a top 50 team, Virginia Tech, and we have played two top 50 teams so far (lost to Providence). With a team fielding 8 scholarship players, you can bet we have had a lot of toughening to far under out belt, and we remain so far the only team in A10 to have beaten a top 50 team. Not bad at all. We need to understand the level of our achievement so far this season. We are good as we are right now, we are not a push over team.
  22. Could not agree more that we need a perimeter shooting threat until the missing players are back. I was looking at the stats of the players and saw that Psimitris has played 4 minutes total, 2 against Rockhurst, and 2 against Providence. In each of those games he managed to sink a 3 pointer. He caused no fouls, no TO and did not do much of anything else covered by the stats. This may be a kid that could be brought into play as a perimeter threat, at least until the team gets Welmer and the others back. Just saying.
  23. Nope it does not. We were clearly outplayed by Providence. They can shoot and score consistently from a variety of places, we cannot.
  24. You must ask yourself where did ESPN get this information from. If it was done by just getting the date of the event and adding 60 to it with no other basis, it is not likely to be correct. At any rate we will see soon. Providence showed us tonight that good teams can shut us down when we present no shooting threat to them. However much we need these players I will believe they are available after 11/24 when I see it.
