  1. Basketball is a confidence game. If you tie a players natural instinct to develop then you create indecision but most of all affect their confidence. Why is Neufeld shooting 3s.....he is being told he can but I have yet to see him make one. AY was terrible from the 3 in recent games until the NF games where he struck gold. That is confidence and coaching staff encouraging him to be aggressive. Even if a kids shooting form is suspect it is still a work in progress that should not be restricted. That is the point.
  2. Definitely gimmick! Lets see when we run it again.
  3. 100% accurate. The way JC went after RA in the locker room is also accurate. Thus my current disgust with that staff and how they are developing players like RA, AY, MC, and others. SLU is running a motion offense which means it is an equal opportunity offense. Open guy gets the shot yet guys like RA who shot a high percentage in high school and prep and currently shoots very well from midrange to 3pt range came to SLU to get developed into real basketball players not an inside only presence who can only score within 2 to 4 feet from the rim. The kid can shoot the ball but is constantly being told not to by JC as if the only basketball he will ever play for the rest of his life will be at SLU. His development is dying in the hands of JC. If you watch RA, 2 things are glaring in terms of his development. He has difficulty beating his man off the dribble when facing up and never looks to shoot. See high school/prep videos and let me know if he had an issue then. So that would mean that this staff is not developing his dribble drive skills he came in with and does not want him to shoot the ball. Why? Yet "non-shooters" are allowed to jack up shots at will when they are open. Does RA not have a chance of making a jumper too? I mean we miss enough running the O. This summer when there were rumors of kids leaving the program RA had ample opportunity to go knowing this JC restriction existed. The staff made promises to him to help his game in these areas so he would sign for another season and went on their word when full practices started. The kid decided to stay based on those promises but as you heard JC went ballistic over him taking an obviously open shot within the context of the offense. I know what is going on behind the scenes and it is situations like that explains why players are developing slowly in this system and we have problems competing at the higher level. I probably said too much but some of these kids should have left when they had the chance to do it. Maybe JC will see the error of his ways and really start developing his kids to be ball players or like some on the board believe he has always been bad for SLU after JJ, RL, MM, DE, and JB graduated. I am firmly in the camp that knows he is bad for SLU right now. So either he will change or SLU will have to get rid of him for the sake of the program. Does a leopard change its stripes?! This is why the idea that teams like Louisville are so superior is hogwash because our kids are not being developed to play to their potential. These young men need to be developed individually to harness their skills for the betterment of the team. Know the Bills defense, develop your offense based on the players you have. Obviously these guys are not the 2013 to 2014 Bills but the talent level here is superb. A good coach would be brought out the best in these boys by now. Time is flying..
  4. You are only looking at the result of the gimmick thinking that these kids did not come to play. Ash is a superior D1 player....have some respect. I have it from a inside source that the coaching staff went away from what has propelled their growth to introducing a whole new offense and defense to play UL. After the first 4 minutes you can see that nothing is working. Somehow MC pulls some sharpshooting out of his hat to give us a fighting chance. Instead of going to our bread and butter JC kept tweaking his gimmick at the expense of key players being actively involved in the game. Every good coach knowS that you must get your guys going because this is a game of rhythm not stop and go. Do not expect AY, RA, or etc to have big games without giving them the chance to heat up. I totally do not fault the kids for this loss. If anyone says Ash did not bring it, you must not have much understanding about this game. JC is doing a terrible job of building up the blocks that will make SLU compete adequately in the A10. Play your game and let them beat you at it. Why the constant changes. We all know what Louisville is all about and they never changed their identity to play us so why are we doing that. As long as JC is still doing this s$&& come conference play we will be in trouble. Build your team on the defensive and offensive identity that works with this group then let the kids grow in something they understand. You cannot change everytime you face a new opponent. JC is so focused on the little things that he does not realize that each of these kids must be developed into ball players not pieces of a constantly changing puzzle. Sorry....I am mad tonite bros.....I cannot stand it when people think that teams like Louisville are superior. They are not compared to our kids. They just have a better teacher who spanked our coach on national tv tonite.
  5. The bad taste of this loss should stay with JC and his staff as a reminder that they cannot gimmick their way to a big win. We never got to any rhythm for our starters or continuity in the defense/offense like we did versus NF. Staff threw this game away and looked like once their game plan did not work they had no alternative plans. I will also say that MC doing what he did was a blessing but the kid did that on his own guts not because staff knew what they were doing. I am really disappointed with the coaching because I now realize these kids development is being destroyed by this staff. My hope is that they will succeed despite the handicap of having a so-so coach in tow. Real Talk!
  6. Being hit on the glass has to do with having 2 of your 3 best rebounders on the bench most of the game. The minute Onuaku went out due to PF is when he should have unleashed Reggie in the paint to neutralize Mathiang but instead Reggie stays on the bench till the second half waiting for Onuaku to come in. As soon as he checks in so does Reggie. Could Reggie not have been a beast on the glass and provided some points in the paint. That would have neutralized Mathaing somewhat but Mathiang only had to abuse our young bigs.
  7. Not saying they are not good but JC strategy sucked from the onset. I feel like you just have to play your game to give yourself the best chance. A game where Ash is ineffective, Reggie never gets going, we will lose everytime because there goes your rebounding and defensive punch. MC played a hell of a game but got no help. I feel really bad for these kids. The game was never that bad and they had a chance to pull it off.
  8. If we lose this game you can blame it on playing that gimmicky game trying to lull a pitbull to sleep. Why don't you do what works.
  9. Sad how the NBA came calling for him. He should have stayed at WSU for the peanuts!
  10. Who says they will be able to matchup with SLU either?
  11. Call me a dreamer or say the boyz have no chance in hell to pull it off but I still say Bills by 8. Could we lose? Sure. Can we win? Why not! 5 guys on the court at a time means we match their 5 and see how deep our benches are. Bills all the way.
  12. I gonna say it now...SLU by 8. Our defense will cause a major problem for them and out turnovers will be very low. Expect a low scoring game as well. Total team effort in this one. Go Bills
  13. A very fast developing team in my eyes. Boys are showing true grit, hardwork and teamwork. If they continue to build on this we could be seeing some major wins this season. 4 - 0 must be surprise to everyone. Louisville is next!
  14. Duke wins easily! Could care less who wins as long as we beat them this season when we meet at the Fetz and at their house.
  15. That is a game the Bills should do well in. Guard play will even out but our defense will be a major factor.
  16. Interesting loss by WS to Tulsa. Lots of ranked schools getting hit. Bills need to be up to the challenge when we meet them. Same with Louisville and North Florida,
  17. One in the second but still a great adjustment by JC and staff to prepare them.
  18. For a first game...I was impressed with their defense and they seemed to have a good sense of the new shot clock. They will only get better and I am still saying the press underestimating the Bills is a good thing. They look to be more experienced and more controlled. JC did a good job today too.
  19. Good games until you lose one like St.Johns by getting manhandled by a D2! Lets you know that a well coached team can beat a bunch of 5 star players thrown out there to play. This is one reason I believe the Bills will a problem for opponents this season. Low expectations and playing with a chip on their shoulders. As for well coached, this season will be a telling example of whether or not JC is the problem or the solution.
  20. Thanks Old Guy! Sounds like they are a better team a year later. I hope their defensive tenacity rises with the comp level and becomes a problem for our opponents. I am really looking forward to the North Florida, Louisville, Wichita State, and Kansas State games. Oh yes, beat the @_$_#& out of RI in Kingston to start A10 play. That is a team that needs to be stomped in the ground.
  21. FYI...a scrimmage is not a game. It is a time when coaching staffs get to implement their O and D versus live competition. Even if we lost by 2 or won by 2, the knowledge gained will help to make adjustments before we play real games that count. Sorry but the sky is not falling! Some encouraging results came out of this scrimmage.
  22. I guess time will tell what the Bills will accomplish this season. I expect we will be wrong as usual. No way this season is like or worse than last.
  23. Boy...sad discussion for sure. Lets just see how it goes. Go Billikens!
