  1. God bless anyone who harbors hatred and go Bills.
  2. I expected hateful and cynical responses from some very unhappy people and was not disappointed. I didn't say that ND was so much better than SLU. In fact, my point was just the opposite. Both schools stand for the same ideals and people from SLU should appreciate that. However, there's no denying that if SLU could be ranked in the top 20 in football and academics, have it's own television network deal and a $1.8 billion endowment it would jump at the chance. That doesn't mean that SLU is not also a great university. I attended both schools and feel that I'm in a better position to judge the comparison than someone who has simply read about them. When SLU hands out academic excellence awards to athletes at basketball games is that arrogance? No, it's pride. Should people from one of my alma mater's call me a tool because I'm proud of both of them and don't think that one should hate the other because it has been successful? Get a life and quit building yourself up by knocking other people down.
  3. I'm very disappointed with the Notre Dame bashing on this site. I have degrees from ND and SLU and love both schools. They have identical values when it comes to athletics,i.e. academics comes first. You should be proud of ND's success, not disparaging of it. I guarantee you that if SLU could trade places with ND right now all of you would jump at the chance. I realize that some people misunderstand Notre Dame spirit with arrogance. If you have ever walked around campus on a football weekend and gone to the Grotto, you would understand that it is about a lot more than football. It's about achieving success without compromising your principles. I would think that SLU people would understand that type of pride. The Declan Sullivan tragedy was obviously the result of people thinking they knew more about something than they did and ND has admitted that they were negligent. No one feels worse about what happened than the people from ND. Making jokes about it is worse than disgusting. I am a SLU season ticket holder and have been reading this site for news on Billiken basketball, (which I've been following for over 50 years) but I'm fed up with the immature jealousy with which some of you are obviously obsessed. Get over it and concentrate on supporting SLU not criticizing other schools' successes.
  4. Notre Dame's AD Jack Swarbrick spoke at ND Club of St. Louis dinner last week. In Q & A session, I asked him about the prospects of a so-called papal conference and his response was that it will never happen. He cited travel costs which I thought was bogus considering the location of the current Big East teams. He did say that ND would consider joining together with some of the potential papal conference teams if ND had to find a new conference, but he said that he was cautiously optomistic about the prospects for the non-football schools staying in the Big East.
