  1. It's called southern frat. More importantly, they do not find basketball games barbaric or beneath them. All of my guy friends at SLU were greek and they all love billiken basketball, watch almost every game during the season. They just don't want to sit in the front row and obnoxiously pick fights with opposing teams bench players and family members/fans. Needless to say, they cannot stand....well I don't want to say names...but the ring leader of the obnoxiousness. I was a season ticket holder during my 4 years at SLU - went to every possible game that I could attend - and to be honest, I can't even tell you how many people complained about him. The majority of the guys I am friends with just buy regular tickets to avoid the student section. It's one thing to be cheering your team on but its another to just menace and ruin the experience for everyone around you. If its a Xavier, Dayton, SIU game go for it those are big rivalries, but its pretty unnecessary for the other games - direct your "spirit" towards the Bills and not the opposing teams fans. I truly do not mean for this to sound like an attack on one person, I'm just giving an honest response to your letter because you seem to be completely in the dark on this aspect. I'm also not saying this is going to solve every problem, it just caught my eye when the greek topic came up in response to the lack of a student section. The bottom line is that no letter to the students is going to boost attendance. Talking down to everyone is not going to do anything. The Bills are obviously holding their own this season, people will start coming around. These kind of things take time. Of course the free tickets should be a huge incentive and it is making a small difference. The guys are generating a buzz around campus. Its unfortunate that only national attention draws a crowd right now, but thats just the way its gotta be when youve got a team transitioning like this. March is coming up and hopefully our boys will prove that they can hold their own and SLU will be a bunch of contenders for awhile.
  2. ahh I wish I would have known for the Xavier game! I guess there's always the Dayton game
  3. everyone stop your bitchin. most programs do it after the game, keep the guys in the zone before the game...especially a big one like X did paul deserve a little bit more after all he has done for the program? yeah sure it would have been nice if more fans had stuck around. all that matters though is that pretty much his entire family was there, his friends, his girlfriend, his teammates, his coaches, and some great fans. he knows how much he is appreciated.
  4. i just want to say how awesome i think we/slunatics did at todays game. it was obvious that we made our mark there, but seeing xavier fans talk about it on their board really made so much happier. im so glad the first organized roadtrip was a success http://www.xavierhoops.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17613&page=3 "The faux student section in 216 (those 80 students) seems to be outdoing the real student section." "Yeah, you can hear the SLU fans on the radio." "When Robinson air-balled it, the chant was nearly as loud as when an opponent does it." ....nice work today slunatics!
  5. theres about 80 students going on the roadtrip thats thru SLUnatics/athletic department and they said they sold a whole bunch of tickets to alums so hopefully we'll have a pretty decent group!
  6. tonights student section was great! SLU sent out a survey like last week asking students how much more likely would they be to attend the games if everyone automatically was charge like $8 on their tuition and would get into every game. As a season ticket holder I go to every game that I can anyways, but I think that would be a great idea. Whenever SLU has a free ticket thing for students they get a great turnout. I really hope they do the automatic charge on every undergrad because the student section tonight is how it should look every night
  7. although that was a depressing loss, i think it was also a sign of hope that we can play athletic teams. sure they didnt have thompkins but they were still good without him. WE WANT ROB LOWE
  8. whoever is in charge of that facebook group, needs to put a link to the police report and like summarize in the info section about how the victim said she THOUGHT she would rather be anywhere else, as opposed to verbally objecting or acting as if she didnt want to. then invite all SLU people, this way when people join the group they will be able to see the info from the actual police report as opposed to headlines talking about rape and such.
  9. i hope willie is able to make his own decision without the pressure from his egotistical dad
  10. that letter is such a joke as is feminism. coming from a girls perspective, after reading the police report i was furious. i do feel bad for the girl somewhat, only because i'm sure it sucks to have your entire life turned upside. but more importantly someone needs to emphasize the fact that THINKING you would rather be elsewhere and ACTING/SAYING you dont want to do something are two very different things. you cannot expect someone to read your mind. everyone has been in the spot where you regret kissing or hooking up with someone. she says she felt like she had no control or that she couldnt leave, well she sure as heck was able to leave when JJ came in.
  11. do we know if thompkins is still out? i didnt seen if he played the colorado game
  12. i need some honest feedback guys, is this good enough to debut on saturday?
  13. thanks BK! me and a friend are gonna work on it and hopefully get it done for saturday, it will be like our SLU senior year project
  14. i'm currently a senior and ive never heard anything about sexual activity/no means no from any higher ups or even the RAs. freshman year in gries, we got the talk about cohab but that was just telling us we couldnt have opposite sex members in our rooms after a certain hour. i vaguely remember seeing like a guest speaker freshman year, she talked about how she had gotten raped during her college time but i really don't remember what her actual talk was about. it definitely wasn't something required for all freshman though....not quite sure why I was there
