  1. http://www.thegazette.com/subject/sports/gary-rima-college-basketball-paul-jesperson-half-court-shot-call- UNI's radio guy calling the game winner. Lasts about a minute and worth a listen. Down goes Texas, down goes Texas... Ka-boom!!!
  2. Shockers crushing Arizona, up 24 mid second half.
  3. Stallings is a good coach. Always been impressed how he has kept Vandy competitive in the SEC and in the annual discussion for NCAA bids. My excitement level for his hire would be about an 8 on a 10 scale. Martin and Drew would move the needle up pretty high though.
  4. Rough start to the post-season for the A-10 as Fordham falls to Boston University 69-66 in the CIT and the Bonnies fall 79-75 to Wagner in the NIT. In the CBI, Duquesne gives up 80 points in the second half to Nebraska Omaha but holds on for a 120-112 victory. Gdub's Alex Mitola hits a buzzer beater to lift them to an 82-80 NIT win over Hofstra. Next up is a road date with Monmouth.
  5. Based on that article, can't believe Martin is in any trouble for his response to that situation.
  6. Don't agree. Bartley was overcoming a foot injury all year. His shooting touch was magic in the A-10 Tourney. You want a guy like that on your team. Roby's jumper makes my eyes ache, but give him credit for somehow having a nice percentage late in the season. I believe the coach who can get through to MY can turn him into a very good 3. His perimeter shooting improved significantly as the season wore on. Maybe we hire the guy who can help him understand his role in transition. So far, he's been a disaster there. Miles has some positives but has to become a much better shooter. AG is playing at the wrong D-1 level and Jolly would be much happier at D-2 or D-3.
  7. T. J. Otzelberger? If so, sign him up!!
  8. A good goal for most games is to keep your turnover percentage under 20% of possessions. So in previous years when we were averaging about 65 possessions a game, 12 or less was an acceptable number. With the shorter shotclock, and us seeming to hold the ball fewer seconds before shooting than in previous years, we were usually in the 73-75 possessions per game area. In games with that number of possessions then up to 14 turnovers for the games is acceptable. One of the unusual things about this season was the number of games where we had less than 10 turnovers total vs. the number where we exceeded 20% of possessions. The fluctuation in the turnover numbers was surprising. Wiz, do these numbers sound right to you?
  9. Beast will feast on teams from the northeast... and rest of the A-10, last but not least.
  10. Pretty impressive shooting statistics after reading all the negative reviews of his game. If that was Zeke Moore throwing down that dunk, then I'll take him.
  11. At the same time, he ended his career with a double figure scoring night, going 12-14 from the floor. Agree though that he was overmatched in the A-10 and wouldn't have been any better in conference play than last year.
  12. Great presser by Crews. Interesting that he said that he had Welmer penciled in as a starter after summer workouts and the Bahamas trip. From watching all the Bahama replays, my impression was Welmer was going to be a significant contributor this year with good upside. Glad to have verification that "The Beast" had impressed the staff so much that he was going to begin the year as a starter. With the exception of one frontcourt player, I'd be OK with everyone else returning. I'm guessing that at least one guard will be heading elsewhere next year. Assuming no more than two transfers, it looks like the new staff will have some talent to work with.
  13. YES!!!! Now, don't eff up the hire.
  14. MC sighting and he gets the stickback. Down 7 at 35.8
  15. Gotta give it up to RA for his progress this year. Improved in all aspects, FT shooting included. Down nine at 1:08. Turnover MY, just WOW.
