  1. The irony is that Illinois acts like they're such a better program than us yet they're so paranoid over all of this
  2. Well obviously. I'm talking about NCAA qualification
  3. Exciting stuff. All signs pointed to this since Goodwin committed. The only problem is that there's a good chance Tilmon won't qualify. Regardless, it would be a huge recruiting win further solidifying our stranglehold on the STL area.
  4. Yes it is. Beyond that, would anyone actually care about a non-scholarship football team? I just can't see it
  5. +1. This is a good example of why it's important that we don't aim for unrealistic targets. It's less of a problem (so far) under Ford, but still something the staff needs to keep in mind. Fwiw I've heard good things regarding French.
  6. It's a good question. Those aren't very accurate comparisons, though. Gonzaga has been to 18 straight NCAA tournaments. Do you know the teams with longer streaks currently? Kansas, North Carolina, Duke, and Michigan State. Add in Gonzaga's 2 elite 8 appearances and it's not hard to see why they're popular. As far as Creighton goes, they have no professional sports teams to compete against. They're the only show in town. It's a much different situation that ours. I understand we had a nice 3 year run recently but the reality is that we haven't had sustained success. Plus, those teams never made it past the round of 32.
  7. Florida changed their mascots last year. Florida State changed their mascot about 2 years ago. Arkansas has altered their mascot multiple times in the past. I could keep going.
  8. I know it has been acknowledged by many already, but I can't stress enough how great of a job Ford did here. Goodwin was likely was coming here regardless of the Tate hire. Once he was hired, it was locked up. If I was the coach of a team hoping to recruit the St. Louis area in the future I would be very scared of Ford and Tate. This is only the beginning.
  9. This is a good point. I prefer an Xs and Os couch but I was spoiled by Majerus. The reality is that anther Hall of Fame coach isn't walking into Chaifetz anytime soon.
  10. Black passports are for diplomats
  11. So how exactly has he cost himself any money by not playing overseas?
  12. I'm glad one former Billiken was able to live up to your high standards. You sound like a self-righteous prick. I'll take the guy who made mistakes as a young college student yet matured and accomplished his goals over the old man judging others from his ivory tower every day of the week.
  13. He made close to a million dollars last season. Please tell us again how he's losing money.
  14. Willie is 6'9. Not that it really matters. He has performed well in the NBA
  15. We may have high participation rates for youth soccer but the structure in place and strategy surrounding it is not ideal. It should continue to improve as the academies mature. Your second paragraph is spot on and even more applicable to younger kids. We need more focus on individual skills training for kids from the time they start playing at age 4 or 5. I believe many people are starting to realize this. One of the big downfalls of our country's youth soccer has been the size of the field the kids play on. Larger fields = more cop outs and room to bomb the ball when under pressure. This limits individual skill improvement. As we start to move more toward futsal-style play for youth soccer, we should begin seeing improved play across the board in the next few decades. The main point is that we still have a long way to go, but to say that there hasn't been improvement is completely false. This will take time. As we've already seen, you can't make yourself an international soccer powerhouse overnight. We are headed in the right direction though.
  16. You're like the guy who always brings up his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend but says he doesn't care. Seriously, why be an ass and comment if it means so little to you? To to answer your question, we've made great strides at improving the infrastructure of soccer in the USA, but most of those changes occurred in the last 10 years. I fully expect us to take a step forward in the next two decades. It's a slow process though.
  17. Will one of you geniuses making $2 mil + per year please post pictures of your house for comparison purposes? I would like to see what you deem to be the appropriate house size for someone making that kind of cash. Thanks
  18. It happened some in the past but the new staff is being much more aggressive with it
  19. The Nike camp this week on campus is likely the explanation for most of these offers
  20. Marvin Clark is transferring from Michigan State to St. John's.
  21. 4th behind who? The kid started 13 games for Michigan State last season.
  22. I'm one of Willie's biggest fans. His success has been the result of a lot of hard work. Pointing out that he is, or was, a fool doesn't mean people aren't cheering him on.
  23. You don't get it though. Willie was nothing short of a pain in the ass his entire time at SLU. He was already going to be academically ineligible when the situation happened. He got away with a lot of shananigans during his short time here. Now let me be clear - Willie isn't a bad guy per se. He's was extremely immature while at SLU and has grown up these last few years. But it isn't hard to figure out why some people view him as a fool or idiot. Everyone around the program viewed him in the same light when he was here.
