"He’s a fundamental player. You know you can trust him with the ball, not gonna turn it over, make crazy plays that’s outside of himself," Durant said to praise Goodwin after Saturday's game. "He’s just gonna play the right way. Me and Brad (Beal) was talking about it on the bench how fundamental J. Good is"

Having the trust of Durant is huge in terms of carving out a permanent spot in the rotation after Booker and Beal return.

Suns play Wemby and the Spurs coming up at 9pm on TNT with Booker and Beal still out.

Beal out tonight. Goodwin played in crunch time. 2 points, 4 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal and +7 in 14 minutes.

I know it's just 1 game into the season, but Jordan Goodwin is in the rotation on the NBA team with the 4th best odds to win the title. Given the Suns top heavy roster makeup, If Goodwin can stay healthy, he's going to continue to get significant minutes off the bench. This is really an ideal situation for him.

  3. I think it's interesting how some outlets are listing Yuri at 6'0 while the NBA dot com news article lists him at 5'11

During the 2022-23 NBA season, only 4 players listed (by NBA dot com) as under 6ft appeared in a regular season game and between the four of them combined for 72 appearances.

Glass half empty: Yuri has 2 major strikes against him in that he can't shoot from long range and he's under 6ft

Glass half full: If any organization can teach Yuri to shoot, it's the Warriors. If any organization can get Yuri's head straight in terms of where he is and where he needs to be, it's the organization w/ 2 all time PGs on their roster (Curry, Paul).

If he can develop skills in the G-League he couldn't at SLU and embrace his role the way Goodwin and Willie did, he could very well find some time on the NBA roster given that the Warriors will surely be load balancing their aging HOF point guards

  4. with the more restrictive "2nd Apron" salary cap in the new CBA, increasingly the title contenders are going to be a handful of guys making 8 figures, and everyone else making $1-2M.

The best case scenario for a fringe NBA player is to land on one of these contenders and have a legit role to play.

You would be hard pressed to find a team that had less at stake last season than the Wizards - they were too good to be in contention for Wemby but not good enough to compete for a play in spot.

Conversely, there's no team with more at stake in the next 2 years than the Phoenix Suns (and Boston Celtics and I guess the Dubs). If JGood can be part of that Suns rotation, he could find himself playing meaningful minutes in the postseason - which increases his chances of earning another deal, and sticking as a utility player for bargain shopping contenders going forward.

SLU has 10 games left (6 at home and 4 away). Anyone want to hazard a guess what the NET could be with a 10 game sweep? There are visits to Dayton, Richmond, and VCU that will be tough road wins.

SLU has not swept Dayton since 2010 when it was Majerus vs Gregory and we had Kwam and future NBA player Willie Reed. SLU has not won in Dayton since 2014 when we had Jett and McCall. SLU has never won at VCU.

We have a better chance of winning the A10 tournament than running the table in the regular season.

    After the SIU-C game

Another great night for Yuri...14 assists....

Moves up to #139....with a total of 661

    Passed

Jalen Pickett...Penn St...Still playing... last year eligibility... 2 behind Yuri

    Marque Green...St. Bona...2001-04

    RJ Cole...UConn...2018-22

    Tyus Edney...UCLA...1992-95...Mizzou killer

    Gerry McNamara...Syr...2003-06

Note ...only 1 last active player ahead of Yuri....Cameron Parker...Last year of eligibility ...15 ahead of Yuri

Granted the games against Paul Quinn, Harris Stowe (last season), and Maryville (his 1st year) all count for the Billikens records, but in terms of chasing the Hurley 1076 mark, are the 32 assists he racked up against non D1 teams going to count?

Jordan ended up playing 29 minutes in the Wizards 113-105 win over Luka Doncic and the Maverics.  This was tied for 3rd most minutes for the Wizards tonight.  He was in the entire time at the end when the game was still in question.  Finished with 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists (2nd on team).

He posted a plus 12, played in the closing minutes of a win, and to really put things in perspective look at what Wizards fans are saying on Twitter...

How old are you guys? The site is really easy to use. The only real "complaints" is that we can't use the app and that you can't transfer tix to multiple people at once.

If you've gone to a Cardinals game, Blues game, or big venue concert in 2022, this is par for the course.

Just go to am.ticketmaster.com/slu and login well in advance and make sure your tickets are there. Then be on that site when you go to the game but wait until you're in line to load your tickets and you'll be fine.

Respectfully to all the Billikens fans and Yuri Collins I am not excited by the news.

In my opinion the fans always get the crappy end of the stick.

Is Yuri staying because he is getting paid?  I hope not because a SLU education is worth a lot of money.

I would like to think that Yuri took one for the players like Curt Flood did for baseball free agency.

I am happy for coach Ford the players and the fans that wanted Yuri back.

They're never going to the Big East.

Fun Facts about SLU's former MCC counterparts who advanced beyond SLU and ended up in the Big East...

Marquette: Haven't won an NCAA tournament game since 2013
Xavier: Haven't made the NCAA tournament since 2018
Butler: Haven't made the NCAA tournament since 2018

Getting into the Big East would not make SLU's path to the NCAA tournament any easier.

One got here as one of riches people in the history of the species, the other grew up where no one on this board would rather live than they do now. Otherwise quite =.

One guy married a Walton broad and then got richer by f-ing people over with impunity like a strip mall Daniel Plainview.

The other is a ~21 year old struggling to find his place in this world.

As much as Yuri might disappoint us, he's not Stan Kroenke.
