I like it. Big man who played 20+ games for an ACC team and also played in the elite 8 and final four 2 seasons ago. Not a superstar but I'm a fan

And finally a power forward with the prototypical power forward size! He had a lot of big-time programs recruiting him just two years ago. Pus, he would have received quality coaching at Miami, spent two years in an ACC strength and conditioning program, and competed against some dudes day in and day out. I think this is the profile of transfer we should expect to see a lot of for programs at the level of SLU.

We're dealing with 18-21 year olds making decisions in the presence of yearly dollar signs that I don't know if I'll end up reach in my life. Things change on a dime.

Oh, I get it which is why I never bought the all 5 are coming talk. The power brokers on here probably should not have been making it seem like a slam dunk. Ultimately we got the prize and a tremendous coach, so I fully expect him to still build a high level roster without those 3.

Wait how come we are only getting 2 ISU players?

I feel like someone said it was a lock for 4-5? Maybe I'm mistaken.

Yeah, I am really excited about adding Avila, but it does seem like adding him and Swope from their starting 5 was the minimum expectation. A lot of the connected folks on here were implying we’d be getting all of them. Ultimately I am pumped with the hire and Avila, so who cares, but what you point out is true. Now let’s see how Schertz builds out the rest of the roster.

It's going to be VERY interesting to see guys taking paycuts leaving college.

That is what is so shocking to me. The compensation went so quickly to essentially being right below the NBA and NFL. Paired with the free COVID year, why wouldn't you stay in college as long as possible if you are not a surefire draft pick in the NBA or NFL? Especially now that while not formally stated, the academic side of college athletics is an understood farce.

Again, thanks to those who are funding the program and NIL at SLU.

The rising NIL costs aren’t sustainable and that’s why you see university presidents and ADs asking for the NCAA and Congress to figure it out.

Yet, boosters keep paying it and increasing the level needed to compete. It is wild to me how quickly NIL spun out of control and how it is yet to truly slow down. I completely agree with you (and I think it will basically need to include formalized contracts for a level of transparency and protection), but am starting to wonder when that will actually happen! None of it makes any sense. Is your d!ck that small and ego so big that you need to pay a star basketball player a million dollars to play for your school? I am glad we have some folks willing to pay, but if there is a bigger waste of money, I am not sure what it would be.

SEC programs received $50+ million from their conference distribution, yet boosters are expected to pay the labor?!?! Someone explain to me how any of this makes sense? I guess it truly is playing rich people's egos against each other because there is no way to justify it.

Absolutely, dude needs to know he's in an underrated foodie city.

Should we start a separate thread where folks can throw our food ideas and then we can establish the definitive Billikens.com list to forward along to Coach! I know Rick would have put Adriana’s on the list for lunch!

You mentioned south city, what are your favorite spots there?

Yes that would suck, but it would also mean we’ve been extremely successful, and we will again be in a great position to hire a great up and coming coach.

Which is why I empathize with the Indiana State fans. While we can have a coach move up and feel comfortable that we will be able to find a quality replacement, what sort of replacement can a program like Indiana State land? They were so close with a core prepared to make an even bigger splash next season and instead they see the coach who got them there bolting and likely the core of their roster shipping out as well. I have no interest in crapping on them at this point. They are going from such a high to such a low, I don't have it in me to gloat.

He is the only serious media person in town who covers SLU, and a few idiots rag-doll him constantly. Guess you can't rip all things SLU if you don't take swings at the few people who cover us.

Not everyone wants to hear propaganda which is what Frank pretty much is. I don't waste my time listening, so I don't consume any of it, but I suppose it is better than nothing for those who do.

I don't get the dislike for Frank. He gives the Billikens more coverage than all of the other stations combined. He is a fan. If it's style thats one thing but coverage and boasting thats another.

One problem with Frank is that folks know about him or know him away from the radio/tv and his behavior is not in line with some of his commentary. The other issue I have is that he tends to overplay what he knows. Ultimately, who cares I suppose, I will take him talking about SLU with excitement even if it is essentially as a mouthpiece for the program (gotta keep those sources haha).

I don't see Schertz being a cultural fit at Arkansas.

I saw one thing that listed the top choices for Arkansas likely being Beard, Wade, and Tang. I have no idea the validity of that, but at least something I saw concerning Arkansas and who they would likely target that did not include Schertz.

Mike Knoll's son was in my grade at CBC. Great guy (still is) and great basketball player. In fact, our varsity squad my junior and senior years were really good. Knoll, Jeremy Jones, Larry Jones, Tamar Maclin (played at MO St.), and Ryan Woods (Played football at Michigan State). Didn't have any issues getting past Pistol and TheChosenOne's David Lee-led Chaminade squad 😁 but Jimmy McKinney's Vashon squad was a different story. Bill Harris did everything he could to get D Lee to join our stacked squad at CBC but he decided to go to Chaminade instead. What a shame, he could've ended up having a great pro career....

Didn't he go to SLU? Heck of a shooter if I remember correctly. Anyways, those CBC teams were tough (as was De Smet when they had Keppel and Joe Ries) and Ryan Sapp was quite the player as well. David would have played with most of that crew growing up, but obviously someone with that pedigree isn't going to CBC hahaha (he came to Chaminade by way of John Burroughs). But, you are right, Vashon was the top dog back then with guys like Joel Shelton, Jimmy McKinney, etc.

UConn is the best team since...?

At least the 2006-07 Florida squad, right?

Really impressive run. Especially when you look at how they dominated the tournament last year, see who they lost from that roster (Sanogo, Hawkins, Jackson, Calcaterra, and Alleyne), and watch how they are dominating the tournament again this season albeit going in as the favorite this spring.

Google must be wondering why people are searching for images of Brad Underwood. I just did and I have to say his wife appears to be quite attractive, so he’s got that going for him… which is nice.

Carrie Underwood? Nice legs on Mrs. Underwood.

Not sure of this, but fairly certain he subscribes to Grandy Glaze's OnlyFans page

I used to judge Grandy based on his post-SLU activity, but seeing it spelled out like this with his name, his future had already been written. I hope he is doing the glazing vs. being glazed, at least I think that is what I would hope for him.
