  1. He is listed as having an offer from SLU. What is his status?
  2. I don't know. He initially signed with James Madison but for whatever reason was released from his letter of intent. There were some prior (a week or so ago) posts about him. If I recall, the thinking was that he would have to toughen up, but he could shoot from the outside. But we are in need of some big bodies who could give us some minutes.
  3. I'm wondering if the "African nation" part of the story in a mistake. My understanding is that Rodrigo Peggau is from Brazil and went to prep school in North Carolina, thus the Charlotte reference. But I'm just speculating. Plus Peggau has an offer and I haven't read anything about him visiting yet.
  4. Good for him. Missouri S and T is Div 2 so he won't have to sit our a year. Also, Missouri S and T is in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, same as NKU. DM and AK will compete against each other.
  5. I am not getting involved in this dispute one way or another. But to claim these allegations are not based on race is a misreading of the article
  6. Wouldn't his recruitment be opened up again just like in the TL situation? There is no guarantee we get him the second time around.
  7. The redshirt will really help. He will have 3 years of eligibility left and will not have to sit out a year
  8. Div 2 Great Lakes Valley Conf. same as UMSL
  9. Thanks for the very interesting discussions. I learned a great deal. These recruiting battles that go down to the wire tend to bring out the "competitive spirit" of board members from every school.
  10. Are there any rumors floating around as to where either DM, AK, AM, or MR are headed?
  11. I agree. The guy was classy enough to come on this board, debate us, make some decent arguments, agree or disagree, and we nail him to the wall. I don't blame him for getting pissed!
  12. You are right about that. But let me ask you a question. What would the UK board be like today if he had chosen SLU?
  13. Hey Marc. Thanks for visiting our board to explain what happened. And thanks for your kind words about SLU and Majerus. UK basketball is big time, but I can't believe how far we have come in one year to give you guys a battle for this recruit. I'm looking forward to the next battle.
  14. Good post. We have to let this kid go. It makes us look bad to keep slamming him.
  15. You said it all with this sentence. He's only a kid. What is he, 19 or so years old? He has Kentucky glory in his eyes. We have some solid kids coming in who could have done the same, i. e., BT could have gone to IU but he didn't. Let's give credit to those kids that chose SLU. Majerus will have others coming.
  16. Take a deep breath. Majerus has brought us into a new era. There will be other disappointments and other causes to celebrate. We have to maintain our cool and character. GOOD LUCK TO JH AT UK
  17. [/qWe always seem to be improvin but I am tired of that. I want to be good. I want to be in the NCAA tourneys. Got to give Majerus some time. Rome wasn't built overnight. Look at what he's bringng in this year. He's going to be working hard at next year's group. Look at it this way. When is the last time we lost a recruiting battle with UK? 30-40 years ago. When you're trying to get up on the big stage, you are going to trip some time.
  18. Hey Tee. Now you know what it feels like to lose all those recruiting battles to USC, i.e., V. Hazleton, B Green
  19. I didn't assume JH wouldn't be a star. I tried to look at the choice in terms of some probabilities. My earlier post states some of the same pluses about SLU that you are saying. In each of my posts, I have tried to look at it from his eyes and why SLU would be a better choice.
  20. I tried to frame my post from JH's perspective. He's going to make his choice from what he believes to be in his best interest, not mine.
  21. Good point. Furthermore, SLU already has its 4s and 5s for JHs Jr and Sr year with BT, WR, and BC. The probability of getting recruited over are significantly less at SLU than at UK. I'm not saying that circumstances can't change, but JH knows what's at play at SLU. I don't know what UK has on board and how many 4s and 5s they will need in the next 3 years, but it can't be any more favorable for him than what he has at SLU. Moreover, JH has less room for error than kids coming out of HS. He has already essentially lost one year. If a UK decision turns out to be a mistake, his options are limited. The riskier choice is UK.
  22. Clearly there is a difference in every situation, but I disagree that no comparisons can be made. BTW, how did you know I was talking about Broderick Green? I was under the impression he left USC.
  23. Hey JH, something to think about before you select UK, if that is what you are thinking of doing. I will use a football analogy. Check out all the 4 and 5 star recruits who select USC every year. Over the last 4 or 5 years, they must have recruited about 100 of these guys. We all here about the 8 or 10 guys who get selected by the pros, but we don't hear about all those top level recruits who rode the pine or who transferred out to go someplace else to get playing time. There are so many top level recruits that go there every year that many good players never get a chance to prove themselves. Then there is the QB (Flacco)who went to Delaware, a division 1-AA school. He got drafted in the 1st round by Baltimore. He was originally recruited by Pitt but transferred out because he wanted to play. What would have happened to him had he stayed at Pitt? What I'm saying is don't be blinded by tradition or glitz. Sit down and put the positives and negatives down on a peice of paper. In a calm and reasoned way, list your priorities and see which school satisfies want you want out of your college basketball experience. If its glitz and tradition, UK may be your school. If its a higher probability of playing, and of playing before your family and home town folks, and for a coach who has a reputation of putting big guys in the pros, SLU may be your school. I remember this one RB from Arkansas last year who chose USC over my undergard school on letter of intent day. He got all caught up in the glitz of USC. So he chose them. Later that week he reflected on the situation and realized he chose USC for the wrong reasons, he went back to my alma mater and asked them if they would take him if he could get a release from USC. Well to make a long story short he wound up staying at USC. This highly rated 4 star RB recently transferred out of USC. I'm not sure where he is at regarding his career. Just something to think about if you read this board
