  1. Just a reader, but from what I have read, totally agree. + 1000
  2. Cancun Tourney: Wisconsin, Old Dominion, West Virginia, SLU
  3. Not sure if this is common knowledge or not: 1.We are in the Cancun Tournament Thanksgiving week 2013 2.in a couple of weeks we'll be "at peak strength". Apparently, a couple of guys are not 100%. ( I guess they hide it well. I don't see it. McCall / Remekun?)
  4. check out the poll, Thicks. You're dead wrong. It was one of the most classless things I've witnessed at any level of basketball.
  5. RM had glowing things to say about the Chicago kids. He thinks Evans will be the very athletic, cerebral, rebounder that will match well against the kind of player that currently gives us problems. Also, Frank asked him about current recruiting and he stated they are looking at a JUCO, a couple of HS kids and a couple of foreign kids. RM stated that there aren't a lot of irons in the fire but the ones that are there are hot.
  6. I agree. I'd like to see the ball in Kyle's hands way more when the game is on the line. The two turnovers by Kwamain at the end were horrendous decisions... decisions that I can't see Kyle making.
  7. Broy...bottom line, the point of your posts is obvious - you don't like Rickma and would love to see him fail. You may be right in your distaste... but, his failing just means the Billikens fail. I sure don't want to see that and I'd sure like to think that you don't want that either. The stuff that you spew sure doesn't help. Is it necessary to keep up this drumbeat? Give it up already. It's too bad that you and Slumn1 are now looked at the same way.
  8. Thanks for the update, Nate. I was starting to wonder.
  9. "Tommie was not there. No public explanation was given. I was told he had a personal commitment he couldn’t get out of, but nothing else. I know nothing about him leaving school, though it would be really, really foolish to do that this close to graduating. Also not on hand, associate AD Mark Wright who apparently is a finalist for several jobs right now. And lastly, signing day is coming up, but expect only one, Cody Ellis from Australia, right now. There will probably be another one, but not until later. Players who sign in the late period nowadays are more likely to sign after signing day because the end of the season delays their campus visits. Which reminds me that recruit Jeff Reid was named Mr. Kansas Basketball. From the Topeka newspaper: The 6-foot-5 senior standout, who is headed to Saint Louis University next year, was named Mr. Kansas Basketball by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. Reid averaged 19.9 points per game and led the Wildcats to a third-place finish in Class 4A after helping them win the 2008 state title. I probably shouldn’t bury all this stuff in a comment." — Tom Timmermann 9:35 am April 13th, 2009
  10. An elderly couple is walking up the steps to exit as Barry steps to the line to "ice" the game with a few seconds left in regulation. They look over at some friends and give the "whoa - that's a relief that we pulled this one out" look. I'm thinking, the way we've been choking this one away, this is faaaar from over. Sure enough, Barry misses two and we luck out that the buzzer-beater was just a two instead of three. C'mon people, support the team until the final buzzer! Better yet, support the team from the opening tip-off. And, why would it be so difficult for students to show up for a 6:00 game? I don't get it. Hopefully, our crowd is akin to a team loaded with freshman...still trying to figure out what it takes to be "big time".
  11. I'm also on board but we can't lose sight of the fact that KL and TL are the focus of every team we play. I don't think they've regressed, they just don't have the luxury of a very veteran presence (like IV was) allowing them to play to their potential. They're in a tough spot as they try to carry this team.
  12. Watching him in the pre-game warmup Saturday night, I thought he has great looking shot - nice elevation, good rotation and was draining buckets consistenstly and with ease from beyond the arc. Doing it in a game is a different story... but it won't surprise me if he becomes a real threat before long.
  13. Great post. I think the majority of posters/readers of this board have been appalled at the treatment of Kevin. The comment(s) that particularly galled me came from the poster with the comment: "people like him because he is a clean-cut WHITE kid (emph. added)".
  14. The gray-haired guy (cotton top) we had last night was horrendous for us a couple of games last year, too. Confirms what I've always believed...A10 officials are the worst!
  15. We've been to the "Triumph" for a couple of "pre-game" meals and like the place... great atmosphere, good crowd (seated without reservation by getting there about 5:00), good food (maybe a little pricey), great service. We'll likely go back again. Anyone have any comments about "Buffalo Brewing Co." or "Pappy's BBQ" that are both just down the street from "Triumph"?
  16. My apology if this has been posted somewhere already. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmvUVPlvs3E
  17. The Salukis are well coached in their physical play and I'm sure are told to play that way to the max until the refs stop it. (Kind of like the Patriots mugging Marshall Faulk every time he came out of the backfield for a pass in the Super Bowl). The picture in the PD of Mullins putting an arm bar on Kevin is a great example. Fairly subtle but very effective. It just makes for ugly basketball and just is not good for the sport. It's up to the refs to control it.
  18. Section 110, row W, seats 22-24 (aisle seats). (FromDaEastSide...nice to meet you on "seat selection day"!)
  19. Entertaining game. Alot of talent on the floor. As far as SLU recruits, very encouraged by Cotto...very strong, incredible passer, nice outside shot and would fit nicely with Kevin and Tommie. BT is bigger body-wise than expected, but will need to increase intensity under Rickma. Outside of one nice inside move while Suggs was guarding him - didn't see much. Femi looks to be a good team player with nice size and strength - just hoping his outside shot improves. Kyle will fit in very well once he matures and strengthens a bit more. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up loving him like a Luke type player with more scoring ability from the perimeter. Looking forward to seeing Conklin and Reed thrown into the mix ... and, of course, KM. If he's as good as advertised, Cotto and Kwamain will be the next Kevin and Tommie.
  20. Congratulations to Luke. Definitely a Billiken to be proud of! http://slubillikens.cstv.com/sports/m-bask.../020808aab.html
