No one on this forum knows the real numbers but our NIL pot has taken a hit with Jimerson, Avila and Swope signings.  How many big ticket players can we afford?  With the names of two potential recruits floating around this board, it appears we are working on the edges of the pot.

Players not high in their previous school's rotations, or not in the rotation at all, won't command six figure NIL packages.

We have the money. No worries.

Yeah, I'm also gonna just need cliffnotes

Essentially, his point is that neither SLU nor Mizzou are currently recruiting Zyree, a point guard here in STL, who’s rumored to be better than his brother Yuri. Travis was. But apparently Josh isn’t, or isn’t yet.

Does the hiring of Schertz, a hot mid major name, and rumors of a hefty NIL war chest signal that this is the moment we’re seriously pushing to get into the Beast? The Fox contract with the Beast expires after the 25-26 season I believe.  Fox will likely insist the Beast expand to compete with the P5 conferences that may be whittled down to the P4 sooner than later.
SLU made a rather un SLU like move by terminating Travis Ford and eating his buyout. It would seem the powers that be were frustrated with the program’s direction under Ford and figured all our pluses, ie facilities, TV market size, and similar school profile, would not be enough to gain entry into the Beast. We need to prove that we are serious about building a winning program. Hence, the hefty commitment of financial resources were necessary to be considered for Beast acceptance. My guess is this is what’s behind SLU’s taking these very unlike SLU actions. Now all we have to do is Win, Baby, Win!

    In a word, yes.

    Beast push. Just win.

With the announcement coming from May, I hope it is confirmed soon by Schertz, otherwise it may become May's mayhem.

No worries, OG. May would never make such an announcement without all ducks in a row. Besides, Coach Schertz has liked SLU’s official announcement on X. All good.

Our team has a chronic “stepping out of bounds” habit. It’s cost 3-5 possessions this game alone.

They have stepped out of bounds more this year than any year I remember. And I’ve been watching since 1970. Brutal.

At least we had another late run to put some lipstick on the pig…..

This is what our losses will look like if we choose to walk the ball up the court until the final few minutes of garbage time. We just don’t defend at all, so there really is not a good answer in my opinion. And offensively we don’t have a lead guard or guys who can create shots for their teammates, it’s all one one one. I suppose by fouling and walking the ball up the court in the opening half we at least had them out of sync for a stretch. But, you likely aren’t winning many games that way with such a poor half court defense. The defense played the token pressure that didn’t do much and then when we got in the half court mixing it up some we just have no defensive fundamentals defending one of one making it largely irrelevant whether we drop into a zone or man. And always entertaining to have another unhinged Ford moment, dead man walking.

Clearly without Parker we suck. Anyone know when we get him back?

After the Loyola game, I was told 7-10 days — by someone who most definitely would know.

That would be this coming Wednesday or a week from today.

@HoosierPal: why four games?  The guy has been practicing since the summer.  Being in shape should not matter.  Speed of the game might be an issue but this is not a Zhang/van Bussel clone but rather a guy who has been there before.  His numbers at his two previous spots were mediocre to say the least but that's kind of why you transfer.  All season I have heard ..... "if we only had Brad."  Well, now we do.  So I am watching him this game with great curiosity.  Not setting the bar too high; focused on his rebounding and defensive presence to start.

    Are Meadows and Hughes playing?

    Taj,

I’d be careful not to get expectations too high here. I saw him in the pre-season open scrimmage. He looked reasonably good - definitely better than what we’ve seen from Zhang and VB - but nothing to write home about. Perhaps had an impact somewhat less than Dalger. Don’t get me wrong; he’s a net positive and  will help under the basket at the 5. But a savior he is not.

Correct.   I know her brother very well.   Ekker apparently has been a fantastic husband

That said ekker and crews are the two worst.   Look at the entire body of work.  Not just this shaping up to be a horrible season.

She was in our SLU class, Roy. Do you remember her?
