  1. Good too hear from you, T & T. I always enjoy your insights. I have to disagree about the local players though. I think by Rick's 4th year (permitted he sticks it out that long), they'll have more like 6 local STL players on the team. There's no way next year's class has any fewer than 3 STL kids, and I'd anticipate at least 1 each year thereafter. RM has already made it clear that he wants to make recruiting STL proper and eventually, the STL region, a priority. With the amount of local talent available, I don't doubt that he'll make it happen.
  2. This is great news for Marquette Law School. The current building is a huge pile.
  3. AT can still recruit though. Just the news that Thick Rick is head coach is going to mean a lot to most recruits.
  4. Someone is perpetuating our rumor on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Majerus "Rick Majerus is rumored to be the leading candidate for the vacant head coaching position at Saint Louis University. http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/6721730?MSNHPHMA" Anyone want to take credit for this?
  5. Are there really 878 active members or are the trolls and posters from long ago just never cleared out? It's great to see this many people on here though. Welcome to all Billiken fans!
  6. Along those same lines, we all still have to remember that if for any reason Tom Crean leaves Marquette, the job will be waiting for Majerus and he will take it. Crean is signed through 2016-'17.
  7. Ha, who knows. It sounds like Pettigrew is waiting to see who is named head coach at SLU though. Hopefully AT is doing his job to hold on to the mutual interest.
  8. Expect it to be later today. We can't afford to lose another minute on the recruiting front.
  9. Title IX is an equal opportunity statute in the same vein as Title VII. It merely requires compliance with one of the following 3 prongs when it comes to athletics. 1. Provide athletic opportunities for both genders that are substantially proportionate to the student enrollment. OR 2. Demonstrate a continual expansion of athletic opportunities for the underrepresented gender. OR 3. Fully and effectively accommodate the interest and ability of underrepresented gender.
  10. Title IX doesn't require universities to spend the same amount of money on mens and womens programs for any of the things you mentioned.
  11. The only real drawback I can see with RM is that he'd undoubtedly be gone in a couple of years.
  12. V, I appreciate that you're staying out of the whole speculation and debate about Rick Majerus, but seriously, this article is 6 months old. Oh, and the article lists Ian Mooney as a "notable transfer", come on!
  13. If not for that smiley, you would have made an enemy for life.
  14. Majerus also graduated from Marquette University High School. Jesuit ties indeed.
  15. IF SLU hires Majerus, SLU basketball will get more publicity in the first day than we have in the last 7 years. Don't think the talking heads on ESPN and fox will stop talking about Majerus and his Billikens any less as next season approaches either. AND Majerus is a brilliant coach and jesuit educated.
  16. There's no way Mitchell is going anywhere.
  17. Floyd Irons is still looking for work.
  18. The author acts like his statistics are earthshattering, but they're really not. His point makes sense but is not news. Jucos don't have a big impact at BSC schools. His finding that "may astonish even those who are most skeptical of recruiting junior college players" isn't astonishing at all. 20 players average less than 5 points per game. Wow. Well, 22 players average less than 19.9 minutes per game. Of those, half average less than 10 minutes. Of course they're not going to have a big impact. They don't play.
  19. You have to imagine he's going to work out primarily at the 4. Brad has been quoted as saying he thinks MR can play every position but the point, and we need big guys more than more 3 or SF guys. I would guess with the need for big guys, they'd try to get MR more work at the 4. Then they can use BH at the 5 when they're running a half court set offense, AK at the 4/5, LM more often at the 3, and Mitchell as a backup 3/4. They're obviously still hoping for a JUCO 6'7-6'9 banger too. I think the last thing you can expect is that anyone will always be set at either the pf or sf spot everytime they're in the game next season. Those guys are all going to rotate more than we're used to seeing.
  20. Thanks guys. I don't think I'll be able to make it after all. I was planning on going to the 17U game at Homestead at 4:40 this afternoon, but I have a fantasy baseball draft with the members of my website: http://brewcitysports.blogspot.com and softball practice shortly afterward. The best of luck to you.
