DR B brought up the upchurch fiasco, so i thought maybe he might want to know. You are certainly welcome to forget whatever you want or not read the post. your choice
-
Upchurch was a case where he attended a summer program and was told he would need some help to make it through SLU classes, so he wasnt admitted. Went to Houston and if a I remember correctly was all southwest conference a couple of times.Set the program back quite a bit likely cost a tournament appearance or two. Been a long time so the details are a bit fuzzy. correct me if i missed something

Thatch to Redshirt in 2019 - 2020 Season

Members 1,516 posts Report post Posted yesterday at 11:51 AM Taj, Fred’s chromosomal abnormality/mutation is not something one “recovers” from. It always will exist. Sometimes there is a course of treatment with androsterone/steroidal cocktail that can help manage the more significant episodes, but I haven’t seen any national/world class athletes who regained full athletic capacity at an original level after having episodes that shut them down completely. Is Fred competing at 70% worth a scholarship, if in the future it will put his health at significant risk? One class of this genetic medical condition involves significant cardiopulmonary degradation and shortening of lifespan. We have seen SLU seek the medical redshirt for him, but without any well published medial prognosis, the MDs still don’t have a 95% CL swag on greenlighting him next year. THIS IS COPIED FROM SHELTIEDAVES POST, CARDIOPULMONARY DEGRADATION SOUNDS DIRE TO ME -

Well said glazed. I have been a medical professional for nearly five decades. medical terminology is not offensive to me at all. What you said in your last sentence is spot on. -

a dose of reality doesnt bother me at all, watching grown men on a public forum bandy about a young man' medical condition with wild speculations about dire consequences i find distasteful. a find people that do that pitiful -

I think it is in poor taste to "read up" on a disease and then draw conclusions about the course a disease will take for a billiken player. There is just no reason, if someone has studied fred's medical records and then throws the information on a message without his express permission it is disgraceful. if one makes speculations without access to these records it is also disgraceful. just my opinion -
I dont pay much attention the cardinals and i am not sure how that is relevant. Obviously it is a serious situation for Fred. Why mbms think that speculating about a young man's health and pulling numbers like70% out of their arse is a good thing is something i dont understand. Why not 65 or 73 or 81.5%? these are made up numbers that mean nothing at this pt.

here -
he said it on one of the interviews
-
Ford said he expects fred to be 100%. i am going to go with that until shown otherwise and forego the speculation.

Every game it seemed he got just a little bit better. I say just imagine the rest of this season. This might just be the best billiken class ever. THE LOCOMOTIVE

Recruiting - 2020 Class (Optimal Vision Class)

I also dislike speculating on who is going to transfer or leave. It isnt fair to the player and i find is distasteful. When the season is over we will find out who stays or leaves. As coach ford said you can never stop recruiting, injuries, illness and "situations" happen and you have to be ready. i encourage everyone to stop the speculation and support the players until or if they leave. -
Question for those that know such things. When a recruit gets on campus, can he play in a "pickup" game? could something liked that happened with AL?

jimmy bell jr. has shown quite a knack on the offensive glass. he may never be french on the boards, but i believe he will prove to be a good rebounder

JBJ has been a point of derision since he arrived on campus. So bashing is not too strong. every player misses shots, but in some posters eyes jimmy's misses are worst. i read the threads and my conclusion is that he is being bashed. just my opinion. I didnt read any post where he was praised for his 5 offensive rebounds, only his mistakes.
