Ability to schmooze the media and boosters. RM will come here and win. That is his track record. If he wins big all that other stuff takes care of itself. Everybody loves a winner. This is almost as sad as people bitching about the parking when the Bills started to fill up the Arena. If you want easy parking and a coach that will glad hand you, become a fan and booster of UMSL. They would love your support.

BM has a pretty big national profile. I think Majerus would handle him perfectly. Everybody else in town maybe not. Also, RM hasn't been a HC in a city this size ever and he maybe he will view it differently in St. Louis. I know we aren't NYC, but we far are bigger than anywhere he has coached before.

As he is told the Fetz won't in and of its self fix all the problems. That almost everything he has done in the last 20 years has been wrong and short sighted. That you have to have a professional athletic department and you can't worry about every last penny.

I guess RM agrees with me that this has been a problem at SLU.

SLU and MU will be playing each other yearly. It will mean SLU will be beating MU every year.

THey are not the ones that declared 19 years ago they wanted SLU to be a top 50 program. That was the man who runs the university. He is the run to be blamed for how it is being judged. He is the one that set the bar. This program has not been close to being a top 50 program. A few years here and there does not count. This program has never been there on a regular basis. I do think Bernie has took shots at Billiken fans that were not called for. All this will end if the program ever reaches the stated goal of the man running the school.

The more I think about this rumor, the less it makes sense. If you are a heaad coach and you want to get the maiimum exposure possible, you want to be in the A-10. A top flight SLU team will get for more exposure on a regular basis in the A-10 than it will ever get in the MVC. Even if the teams you play in the big cities of the A-10 are not the big dog in town, a top flight SLU team coached by RM coming to town will be big news.

Biondi has built up as much ill will among members of the community as he has built up good will. He has just crushed small business owners whose vision of midtown was not the same as his. He has been extremely heavy handed with faculty and staff that have fallen out of his favor. He has done very little, until recently, to build on his 19 YEAR OLD promise to deliver a top 50 basketball program. Biondi has been a huge plus over his tenure for SLU, but for certain people to act like this criticism of him isn't his own fault is delusional.

He was a top 10 jocu player. He was a first team all-american. He didn't pan out, but he was highly rated comin out of jocu. Transfers don't fall in your lap. They still have to be recruited. If you think any non big name coach is going to land top 100 players from outside the area you are sadly mistaken. It didn't even happen with Romar here and he seems to land nothing but top 50 kids at UW now. It would have been a waste of time for Brad to recruit those kids. I am pretty sure Grimes was top 50 coming out and Brad recruited him. Brad's failure and the reason for losing his job is not because of what you laid out in your post, but rather far more simple and local. Ahearn, Falker, Shaw, Tatum, Roundtree, Booker, Stremler, and O'Rear are the things that got Brad in trouble and rightfully so.

I think he knows what it is going to take. The harder sell might be convincing RM that it will actually happen. RM will not go some place where promises won't be kept and the rug will get pulled out from under him.
