  1. It matters how it gets done because that plays in to the quality of the people he will be able to attract in the future to the athletic department. The manner in which Biondi behaves has a direct relation to how the athletic department is viewed and how the school is viewed. If you want the athletic department to stay the back stabbing protect my turf place it has been for the last 20 years and screw making anything better around here, you should be happy. That is going to be the exactly what we will be stuck with unless Mejerus takes a direct role in the hiring of the new AD. The only type of person Biondi is going to get to take the AD job is someone that won't be able to riegn in that kind of attitude. Nobody in the atletic department is going to respect the AD becuase the AD has no real power or say. Bernie is dead on when it comes to Biondi and the AD situation.
  2. THe job for any U of I coach needs to be to make themselves the number hitter in Chicago. For Self it wasn't as big a deal because he was able to recruit national and get top 10 classes. I don't think Weber will ever be a national recruiter. He has to become more effective in Chicago.
  3. Top half of the Big 10 doesn't really cut it when you have basketball hotbeds like Chicago and Peoria in your back yard. Two years ago they played for the national title. They should be getting top 10 classes in the country every year. He has a hard time closing the deal.
  4. When the interview started BM refered to her and Yow as SOBs (Survivors of Biondi), which she just laughed at and sort of agreed with. She stated that she needed to work at place she was appreciated at and basically left it like she was not appreciated here.
  5. I would hope he doesn't, but I would understand if he did outrecruit RM. I would take RM as my head coach any day, but Weber is a very good bench coach.
  6. But the one dude I saw at a Widespread Panic show in Denver and he was pretty cool.
  7. She was going to take a job in the business sector before this came up at Maryland.
  8. It was an intresting listen. She took a couple vieled shots at Biondi.
  9. It was also reported on two different radio shows that CL was hiring the baseball coach yesterday afternoon before this was posted.
  10. Might not be close to how it goes down, but it is by far the best read of them all. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...ockdraft/070627
  11. I am sorry I don't think child molestation is funny. I guess that is why I didn't get that it was a tongue-in cheek question.
  12. Excellent example Bonwich. Times have changed and I understand that. But people want to and deserved to be treated with basic decency. People should not be afraid to go on the record when they oppose Biondi because they fear retribution from him. I don't believe he created this feeling on purpose, but the feeling is there. It is result of the way Biondi treats people.
  13. To live by. I brought up the fact that he is a priest and runs a Catholic institution because that is what he is and what he does. Nice job taking shots at the churh and dragging every priest in sex abuse scandal Taj. Good work my man. I think the two can co-exist and do co-exist. I am not calling for Biondi to quit or leave the priesthood, but it would be nice if Biondi could learn to deal with people better. Everything he has accomplished could have been done without him making as many enemies as he had.
  14. He is first and foremost a priest and a leader of a high profile Catholic institution. People rightfully expect him to behave differently. What he has accomplished is fantastic. The school and the basketball program are now better off because of him. But, he should have handled himself better in many instances. If he wants to act like a take no prisoner business leader, I don't have a problem with that. He should just stop wearing his collar and stop being a Catholic priest.
  15. Hiring RM does not make the way he handled the Brad firing any better. It just makes us forget about it a little quicker. He fired a coach and his staff long after he should have made the move. Leaving them in a very difficult position to look for new work. In doing so he alienated and marginalized his top female employee (something any Catholic institution should be very wary of). This employee just happened to be the most successful AD the school has ever had in raising the level of non-revenue sports and the most successful fundraiser ever in that position. He has also managed to anger multiple property owners around the campus. It is so bad that they fear speaking on the record about him for fear of retribution. People expect better than the above from a Catholic priest .
  16. A little worked up about it. I think it is time for my medication now.
  17. If it doesn't work out it won't matter who the AD is, there will be no money for any of the non-revenue sports. You have to hire RM's guy to let him run the show. We have gone this for, now you go all the way. If it works out there will be money like never before to support the non-revenue sports.
  18. We have heard the stories about RM getting into it with athletic department people at other stops. This hire will be someone RM fully trust and knows. If people try to advance there own agenda in the athletic department that person will be gone. For the Majerus hiring to work everybody has to be on the same page. For other sports to get increased funding this has to work. If this works every sport at SLU wins not just basketball, because there is more money for the athletic department to hand out. Mens basketball pays the bills at SLU.
  19. It would be a boost to attendance because it would be the first basketball game in the new building and would be first chance many people get to see it.
  20. Doesn't want to be on the same page as RM, you better have your resume ready. The backstabbing that has occured in the past will not be tolerated. This is team Rick first and foremost. If you are not completely on board you will be gone. It is about time. I am in no way saying that CL was working against RM.
  21. It will be someone he wants. That will be the only part of the hiring process that matters.
  22. I am sure Novelly is doing his part if not more. I am also pretty sure he does not want a lot of press for it.
  23. Is the way he treats people. You treat people like he does, you make enemies. People expect more out of a preist.
  24. Was when he used the Fiat prices line. You would think we have been watching UNC play for the last twenty years. Not a smart line.
