ISU board melt down.  Just silliness.  The program, the school belongs, to us the graduates. it doesn't belong to the AD who is not a SLU grad.  It doesn't belong to the President, who is not a SLU grad.  It doesn't belong to the coach, who is not a SLU grad.  It doesn't belong to the players unless they become SLU grads.  To expect loyalty and anything other than coach speak is niaviete.  It's especially niaviete in 2024.

So steel yourselves true Billiken fans if Schertz is successful here he probably moves on and we break the heart of another lesser supported Basketball program when we have to hire again.

    C'est la vie

I'll enjoy the 3 years and hope we hire well again.  I'm not a fan of Kentucky or Michigan or UCLA we're somewhere in the middle and I'm at peace with that place.

Only got one thing to say to about the people over at SycamorePride

Here's the thing, even if Schertz did get all these donors riled up to donate and try to meet his "demands", he's motivated boosters to make a financial commitment they weren't previously ready to commit to and thus put the basketball program there in a position to spend on a new coach and or the NIL market.

Without a doubt.  People actually care about the program now.  He has left the program in a much stronger position.

  3. That thread is getting hot and I'm here to watch that fan base make a$$es out of themselves.  They don't have a clue about how the modern college basketball world operates.  It is a business.  Not a single one of them would turn down a job offer in their field that they want Schertz to turn down.  It is just complete ignorance on their part and I regret feeling bad for them during this whole process.

How long till the first player announces a commitment to SLU?  Will he have one by the end of the weekend?

It didn't even take Josh Cohen a couple of hours to follow Muss from Arkansas to USC without ever leaving UMass.

That person did not go to college if he/she believes "college kids aren't as motivated strictly by money as adults".

I've tried to be nice, rooted for Sycamores, felt for the situation they have been going through, etc.  That said, I have had about enough of their fans.  They really don't understand what college basketball is now or even what it was ten years ago.

Wyatt Wheeler is playing the victim card

Wyatt, “SLU sucks, but they would be a great team on the schedule”. Wyatt isn’t very bright.

nearly a 100 miles is not a home game.

second, "jack a 3?" the timeout is likely called to calm his team.   get them in the right frame of mind and put everyone in the right place for reactions.    the play was likely always give the ball to a certain player that is best at creating his own opportunity.

third, the team lived and died on the thinking "we shoot threes or we get layups".   you can bet a layup in that scenario was unlikely to be allowed by seton hall.  remember there was a noticeable difference in size between the two teams.   seton hall was going to push and block the drive.  so if you are a great 3 point shooting team with only seconds to play, take what they give you.   besides, he got fouled on the shot and the zebras as expected for a team not a power conference team got screwed.

it's ok joey that you dont know anything about basketball.   i just appreciate so much you are a fan.   not a billiken fan, as you have shown the last few days you are already a schertz hater.  but if hating the billikens is going to be your M.O. for the forseeable future, i guess we just have to live with it.   keep up the great comments that gives us all an opportunity to comment.   makes life fun.

Sometimes you just need to tip your hat to the other team and the other coach.  Seton Hall played great defense on that play and realized that short of flat out punching someone the refs were likely to swallow their whistles in that situation.  I don’t even think Hall being in the Big East had anything to do with it.  Good refs don’t want to be the show at that point of the game.  Let the players make plays.
