  1. Parker is a decent ball handler but not much of a passer. I find it unlikely that he would play point guard. Just my opinion but I think the most likely Deandre Jones replacements are: 1) similar transfer, 2) Nesbitt, 3) Rashad Williams, 4) Kellen Thames
  2. Oduro only played 13 conference games and his team came in 9th. I can’t buy him as player of the year when other players had a much more significant impact
  3. I will be in attendance with my dad and brother. The last two tourneys we went to as a group both resulted in Billiken championships (2019 and 2013). So I have a good feeling. We’ll ignore the fact that the three tourneys we went to before that all ended in first round exits.
  4. I don't think it's been blissfully ignored. It seems pretty clear, and as Javonte himself even recently said, that he may come back and he may not. I don't think Javonte himself even knows the answer yet. It will probably depend on what professional opportunities are available to him. I would expect that we will find out the answer sometime in late April or May
  5. We have 13 scholarship guys, but Perkins doesn’t count against the limit, which left one for Courtney.
  6. With one more win we lock in at least the 5th seed, which is much preferable to 6th. UMass/LaSalle, then Bona (who may be without Osunniyi, then Davidson. Alternative would be Rhode Island then Dayton then VCU. First choice is certainly finishing 4th
  7. Duquesne already announced that Dambrot is returning. I don’t disagree with you though…
  8. This is going to be another disastrous game for St Bonaventure’s NET. I think we can probably wave goodbye to their at large hopes.
  9. I would try to answer your question, but you are not looking for an answer. I believe you would have the same complaint if we ran the exact same offense as Davidson. You repeatedly ask what system we run but what kind of an answer you are looking for? Do you know what systems other schools run? The system we run is a pro-style, ball screen heavy offense with a high number of set plays. Another school with a similar offensive scheme would be Purdue. Stylistically, the opposite of our offense would be something like the Bobby Knight motion / passing game. Our offense this year is our 3rd best offense of the last 20 years. Our offense last year was the 2nd best. We have (statistically) the 2nd best offense in the A10, Davidson has the first. Truth be told, our defense has been more disappointing this year than our offense. But people don’t complain about it as much because it doesn’t fit the preconceived narrative about coach Ford that they’ve been complaining about for years. Why actually watch the games when you have a script of complaints from years ago that you can recycle
  10. There is a 0.0% chance that Bradford is going to come here and backup Okoro. He is a good enough player that he will understandably want significant playing time in his junior year.
  11. Tramaine Isabell talked about how Ford was a very impressive recruiter and how Fords persuasiveness was what got Isabell to commit to SLU when he was planning on going to Xavier. Ford was a very solid recruiter at Oklahoma State and UMass. To your question, I don’t think we land those recruits without coach tate. But we also probably do not land them without Coach Ford.
  12. That stat doesn’t seem right to me. I can think of at least 4 wins against Dayton and 3 against St Bonaventure off the top of my head. And I know we’ve beaten VCU and Davidson during that time as well.
  13. I heard an interview with Javonte from this week where he said he will be cleared to resume basketball activities in June and will be back to 100% in October. It will be interesting to see when he makes a decision on his return. I would like to see him return and have a shot at the NBA summer league the following year, but I don't know enough about the European free agent process to truly know what is best for him.
  14. I don't think our current coach is going anywhere for a while but I do find it to be an interesting topic. I would be totally out on Crean. It's now been six years since he coached a winning basketball team. I know he did well with Marquette, but the landscape of college ball has completely changed since then. Porter was a marquee hire for OU. There's no reason to assume he won't be at Oklahoma for the foreseeable future. Two guys who fit the profile you're describing are Sean Miller and Chris Mack, both of whom I think would do well at a school like SLU.
  15. I’m not sure, but I think said Yuri would play when his defense was ready. I also don’t think you can compare Yuri’s situation to Kramer’s. Kramer is a wing who will be competing with veteran players for minutes. He’s coming into a team that doesn’t have a need at his position. I will be rooting for Nick Kramer as much as anybody on here. He went to the same high school as me and he will be playing for my favorite college team. I’m glad he’s coming to SLU. And I know there are others I respect like @Pistolwho have seen him play that think he will be ready from day one. But my opinion is that it will take Nick a year or two to acclimate to college basketball before he is in the rotation. He has work to do on both his defense and ballhandling, and he would be the first to tell you that.
  16. I think Nesbitt needs to be more aggressive at finishing at the rim as well. Every time he drives he looks to draw contact, which leads to the wild attempts you mentioned. He has the ability to finish over and through defenders and I wish he'd use it more. He also could take a page from Fred and work on his two-feet finishing and shot fakes around the basket. Right now Nesbitt's offense is almost exclusively open 3s and transition baskets. I think shooting more free throws, mid-range game and even posting up smaller defenders are all avenues where he could improve.
  17. Discipline issues aside, Joe Reece is not really a Linssen replacement. He’s more of a tall wing. I don’t think he’d get minutes here next year, especially if Perkins returns.
  18. Some parts of his game remind me of Fred Thatch in high school. Rich is bigger, so you could argue a little more upside maybe.
  19. The quadrants do not impact the NET calculation. For purposes of calculating the NET you can ignore whether a game is Q3 or Q2 or Q1. Once all of the net rankings are calculated, then you can derive the quadrants (not the other way around). We are higher than SBU in the NET for the same reason that we’re higher in KenPom, T-Rank, EvanMiya, HaslamMetrics, Sagarin, BPI, etc.: we are more efficient than St Bonaventure (we outscore opponents more than they do).
  20. Rob Martin committed to Indiana State
  21. We’re all entitled to our own evaluations. I am a big fan of SLUH basketball and Coach Claggett and have been watching Kramer for 3 years now. I’m happy he’s coming to SLU and think he’ll be a good fit with the TeamBlue culture. My guess is whoever is saying Kramer will play a lot right away is doing so based on secondhand information. Everything I’ve seen and the people I’ve talked to around STL hs basketball seem to agree that he still has some room to grow before he is D1 ready.
  22. I agree with what you said about TJ gaining weight and looking a little less quick. He needs to get back to being that ball of energy he was his first two years (blocking shots, offensive rebounding, deflections, etc.) But I’ve also watched a lot of Nick Kramer the past 3 years and I can guarantee you that he’s not going to be taking any minutes from Hargrove. I would be really surprised if Kramer does not follow the Lorentsson path of watching and learning for his first season or two.
  23. We’ll have to disagree. I think almost every coach would say there are sometimes where getting a technical can be a good strategic decision
