Yes that has crossed my mind. I think at this point them losing the next game is worst case scenario.

Can you sign a more legally binding document while you're under contract at another school? That just doesn't seem like a thing you can do but I know very little about how contractual obligations work.

But I'm sure old guy can tell me.

I don’t think it’s going to matter how or when they finish. Don’t go down that thought experiment, you can argue both sides equally if you think hard enough lol.

I think that’s exactly why he’s still tweeting, if he were radio silent, it might be pretty telling that he’s gone.  He wants to win the NIT, and keeping the fans engaged has helped with that up to this point. Their atmospheres have been great, and I’m sure he wants a ton of fans at Hinkle. It’s in his best interest to keep them thinking they have a shot.

Again, I have no inside info, but the multiple reports of Louisville needing to pay us a buyout to sign Schertz has me thinking he has already signed something more binding than an MOU.

if we're going down that train of thought, and I think you're correct. You're also leaving them, if you leave them with an NIT championship, they are going to remember you fondly regardless of whether you left right after. Again, he's a pro and this is the right way to treat your fans. Do your best until the end, and that includes treating your fans to the best possible experience.

The only two we need to keep on this list are Hughes and Thames. Hughes is self explanatory. Thames has something nobody else on that list has, something which can't be taught, either you got it or you don't, Thames has it and you need players like that around.

Curcic I’d keep for his shooting looks like he could be a really nice depth piece next year.

Does he seem like the kind of guy to piss off that entire fanbase? You seen what he's been tweeting after all these games? I just don't think he would be saying all that if it was already decided.  I would just stay silent and go about my business. It's getting to the point to where if they make a competitive offer and he still leaves it's going to be awkward/ a bad look for him. Again this just all my negative Nancy opinion.

And there's a ton of that fan base that thinks he's just playing the PR game.

They saying their people close to Schertz are telling them he has made no indication he's signed anything or agreed to anything.

I'm just being a dirty MBM cause I care too much about this.

I’m not shooting the messenger. Just pointing out the flaw in logic that the MOU would be a lie. SLU I guess could bluff an MOU, but idk.

Well I heard it's 2 mil from us. Sure our whales want to try to pay less than what they were paying Ford so that 500k can go to NIL funds. But I bet we would raise the price though if needed. Maybe.

Just saying all 260 people in Terre Haute are going to do everything they can to keep him. And their insiders seem to think the mou is a lie. I should probably stop reading that ish though and just log off for a few days. Haha

    A lie from who though?

why would the agent make up the MOU? SLU would profit?
why would Schertz make up the MOU? SLU would profit?

    Would SLU bluff an MOU?

Gotta disagree. Almost no actual searching once the ball got rolling.

Seems like we’ve had Schertz locked up along the Trilly timeline for over a week. There hasn’t really been any drama/we haven’t been linked to anyone else as someone noted. The Cusumano-Ahearn thing was more people piling on Frank vs. substance. Stu’s Twitter has been pathetic quote tweets/half-assed trolling that Schertz might stay at ISU or go elsewhere. No real reporting. Sad! Bills are back.

Check my history man, I’ve said it was always Schertz from the beginning and I’ve stuck by that. It’s the external forces ie Louisville, ISU and any other schools that have popped up. I believe it’s been done for awhile and as of 5:43am I still think that’s the case. Doesn’t mean the rumors haven’t worn me down.

A lot of celebration will be necessary. And repeat with each transfer that comes with.

If you told me how mentally taxing this search was going to be, I would have assumed we were where Louisville was 24-48 hours ago. I am so effing exhausted. But I can't stop checking social media.

Yeah, but we were paying Ford $2.5 million. I don’t know this for certain, but I’d imagine that you potentially back yourself into a corner when you have that track record of paying Ford what they did.

One has a regular season conference championship in the last decade

Honestly, why don't we just pivot to Will Wade (who should've been the obvious hire at Louisville)?  I doubt that will happen, but after looking up his track record after seeing the "unproven" stuff, he's a far better candidate (on paper) than Schertz.  NCAA tournament in 6/9 (7/10 if you count the COVID year LSU most likely would  have made it) years as a HC, 3/5 at the mid-major level.  4 years he didn't make NCAAs were his 2 at Chattanooga, NIT his 1st year at LSU, and the COVID no tournament year.  Since his 2 years at Chattanooga, he hasn't finished below 67 in KenPom.  His salary at McNeese was just $700k this past season.

I'm wondering why everyone is passing on Wade....

Hopefully Schertz doesn't want it. Or hopefully this guy is full of shi.t.

He tweeted this same yesterday, right before he admitted on spaces he had no clue SLU was serious with Schertz.

I do not wish to offend anyone, but after having read the discussion going on I do not feel certain we will get Schertz. I am also quite concerned that May is well on the way to blow this recruitment. However, I can think of something good coming  from May blowing Schertz recruitment and having no backup plan. I think that May could gain a pink slip andd be let go if he blows this recruitment.

Dude pay attention. If this goes sideways it’s because someone threw a bag at Schertz. Every source is confident Schertz is the guy and there’s a signed agreement/contract in place. May isn’t screwing this up because he’s not calling the shots. I’m saying that, me. If I’m absolving May of any wrongdoing, probably listen.

Looks like MO State is prepared to hire Cuonzo Martin when the speculation was with McCollum going there.  Or is McCollum content with remaining at the Div II level where he can just focus on coaching ball.

Nah. Word is McCollum turned down MoSt because he made some requests for facility upgrades and they weren't prepared to oblige. Heard rumblings he was interested in Drake.
