  1. I hope Gibson announces his return for his final year next year- guy is going to have to start a new major to find classes to take. Maybe the first honorary PHD in the history of men’s basketball- or player-coach
  2. Can’t remember a team that had three or more broken feet or legs in one season.
  3. My wife and I actually went to game- first half I commented it appeared SLU players were watching Fordham play basketball. Second half a different Billiken team looked engaged. Some good minutes on defense and we climbed back in game. I thought it was entertaining. Crowd became supportive ties at 55 and 63. I was sorry Courcic did not get more minutes and I don’t understand getting outplayed in the paint you would think at some point SVB would get in game. Neither Ezewiro nor Bruce can control rebounds on their own. I would try twin towers. Wish we could have won but after watching the Cardinals last season I would say we are stuck with bad teams. We have some athletic players but they don’t play well with and for their teamates. i watched the start of Dayton game- same thing there (except maybe they shoot better) players want to score when they get the ball they do not move the ball to get open shots as they did in past years. College basketball is not as good as it was.
  4. SVB took 23 out of his game and if he plays more it will be more like Chris Heinrich (if opponents think they are going to make layups with him in the lane they will crash to the floor). Before he came into the game 23 and 33 were penetrating against our “slender athletes”. He got a big reaction from 23 and took him out of his game.
  5. Two guys had game changing minutes: SVB and Courcic step up to fill void of Dalger. I hate to point fingers but some of our players just don’t play aggressively on defense. I don’t mean thuggery I mean hustle to the ball and outrunning opponents to get between them and basket. Also our shooters are not expecting screens to be set- as SVB gets more minutes perhaps Bruce will figure out how its done. I like Bruce’s physicallity but he needs to finish. If Thames is getting more minutes I expect steals from Thames and LHJ. Hopefully, Parker recovers from his broken foot- right now I would tell him to not shoot the trey.
  6. SVB does something no one else can or is willing to do- use his toughness to impose on the lane and play near the basket- everyone else wants to be out at the key or sideline- this is the least imposing Ford team we have witnessed
  7. Sick and tired of Donnybrook giving quick fixes for a city none of them live in.
  8. Didn’t play like ha a bad back or concussion last night- hope he stays healthy
  9. Now that we are not so desperate lacking bigs- I am hoping Steph Van Bussel gets more minutes. I still think we are getting pushed around and we need a force that can rebound and finish around the rim. In very few minutes he seems to make his presence known. Also screens set for Jimmerson vanish as soon as the spot is captured

  11. Sensationalism rules- never mind that the healthy guys on the team are working hard and show up- not a podcast worthy of participating if you can’t recognize development is harder if daddy doesn’t start you out with a pile of money and seasoned employees. No TF did not start thus year but you won’t find a coach more behind his players.
  12. If you can’t hear or see the improvement in those not currently injured or missing you are most certainly a half empty person. This team played well together last night. They attacked on defense. They could have used MM or LH2 shooting. with the true bigs lanes seem to open better for Jimmerson. Dalger, Thames, Courcic add some zest on defense.
  13. If they had concessions and decent seating they could out draw the grizzlies especially given the $20 beer and thing they call a hotdog nowadays at Busch Stadium
  14. Definitely a Ford and May problem that we have leg/ankle/foot injuries to players so early in season
  15. He had to look around and feel recruited over with 7 footer Bruce Zhang coming innas a freshman
  16. Right now the team looks a bit like the Spoon days four guards and a rebounder- except everyone is bigger and we have a bunch of guys who can dunk- but I am not sure who will rebound.
  17. 98-54 everyone played Tim Dalger and Djordie Courcich sorry for spelling both got over their earlier stage fright and scored at will. Short guard 44 for Berea was high game scorer with 27 attempts at stoping him resulted in Billiken fouls
  18. I would like to be optimistic but I did not see a dominant rebounder or guards stealing the ball
  19. I think Dandridge is a kid who missed the limelight he was promised by Hardaway. Let the kid enjoy being courted. If he plays for us he will be a real assert possibly a star- if he goes someplace else we won’t remember
  20. We wish Yuri well, he certainly got his minutes in with SLU with minimal injury and looks to have a future playing pro ball. He will remain part of SLU history and history of Yurimania. In 20 years maybe he will have children ready to play basketball or soccer and a new generation of players will abound. Ford certainly touted him as a standout pointguard…and he was.
  21. Always to hear how happy the neighbors are? “Louisiana big man Jordan Brown will play for Memphis basketball coach Penny Hardaway next season. The 6-foot-11 center announced his commitment Tuesday. Brown's addition is the latest in the Tigers' near total rebuild. The program has just one player (guard Jayden Hardaway) in line to return from last season's roster which won 26 games, claimed the AAC tournament title and advanced to the NCAA tournament” we hope to get Malcom Dandredge and we hope he has a point to prove in his senior year. i am impressed when I go to games and see all of the local supporters who once played their hearts out for SLU. At no time have we had more local coaches who played basketball for SLU and now coach big high schools like Claggett, Tatum, Pee Wee Leonard and now Kevin Lisch returns to tesm up with Highmark and I am sure he will add to our strong core with Troy Robertson and who could wish for more from Larry Hughes. Rich Grawer had a couple of good connections but right now this team has strong support from recent graduates.
  22. Kevin Lisch could be for the East Side what Bonner, Beal, and Larry Hughes have been for AAU basketball for gradeschoolers and highschoolers. or work for Chaifetz if he buys an NBA franchise
